I live near Modesto, CA and been collecting the 25th line since the 5 packs first came out. I am deeply troubled to see the lack of pegs for product and would like to see everyone's take on it.
TRU sucks, a little side rack that is always empty. Target who has 3 pegs and the wave 1 comic pack that is collecting dust. Wal-mart, three in my area are all different. Turlock has three pegs (always empty). Ceres always full...of buzzers. Modesto is what took the cake for me today. That Wal-mart used to have three pegs for singles and three pegs for comic packs. They have now shrunk it to one peg (Buzzers) and filled the rest with generic action figures. What gives? What is happening with this line? I can deal in competing with fellow collectors and scalpers, but with this kind of situation, it makes it ridiculous. Unless all of these stores are holding back it looks bleak to collect these things. It is an extremely popular line for collectors, but not enough to earn some space with product? This is just in my area and it has always ben like this. I have been lucky at times getting them and up to date. It is when I see the pegs shrunk down to nothing, it is disturbing and discouraging. Buy online I guess. What is everyone else's take? |

I check every store in the area all the time and rarely do i see singlecard figures. Except for buzzer and shipy of course.
Its like this everywhere. Doesnt matter if your In Southern California or Alaska. It seems hasbro distribution is pretty bad with this line, unlike TF or SW. And of course scalpers and army building dont make it any easier. Im not bashing any hardcore army builders but buying that 70th snake eyes or 30th CG is a bit selfish when alot of people cant even get one. ......here come the rebukes and rebuttles lol... |

Even I, who buy one to keep on card to hang on my wall and one to open dont help the situation. But I always help out a friend first before taking a 2nd one for myself to open. Its why I still dont have wave 5 or 6 to open. the xtra case I ordered is going to a friend. Customizing also canibalizes figures that someone may have not had. But these arent the fault of the people. This is hasbros fault for not upping production to that of Star Wars levels.

Bottom line, it doesn't matter what people are doing with the purchases or how unfair or selfish the person is who grabs them. There should always be a steady flow of product coming in. I could accept missing the stocking once in a while, but to see the inventory conditions to where maybe one or two people out of 30 get lucky is not a collecting hobby. This stuff does not have to be this rare. The stores don't mind ordering other toy lines and they rot on the pegs. We should at least see the older waves hanging, but this is silly.
At store level, it has a fast "turn" (time from received to sold) and it is a gurantee sale. "Turn" is what dictates purchasing in most cases and they have a product that demands larger orders and more space. They are not doing it, or Hasbro is slow on delivery. There is no point in Hasbro pushing the line at Toyfair and throughout the industry, if availability is scarce. They can pump these out if they want to and the stores can order equal to demand. To not even see product or older waves is demoralizing. I have heard on this board and from friends say they are losing interest. You never want to see it come to that. If you want collectors to stay interested, there needs to be activity. This collection hardly has a pulse right now. Perhaps the stores are watching overall inventory right now, let's hope that is the cause. When you collect something you accept to chase for a few figs, shuffle through the stock and frown at the usual pegwarmers. Perhaps miss a few but in the end patience and determination rewards you. That is half the fun and the purpose of collecting. BTW, while I stood in that aisle (2 minutes time) 3 other collectors walked directly up to the empty pegs. We all talked about the frustration, some of these guys are still looking for wave 3 and 4? Nevermind wave 6 or the wave 3 comic packs. I am going to start ordering online and pay the shipping. I have spent more on gas looking for these things. Note: even if all collectors stopped, children could not even get into this line. An empty peg is an empty peg, no matter how it got that way. |

I've given up looking. It was the thrill of the hunt early on, but after weeks of nothing, it becomes a bit of a pain in the rear to drive around, waste gas, and find nothing...

I've noticed the same thing on the east coast. I often felt and posted that I think it's a distribution problem. I honestly don't think the stores can get their orders filled from Hasbro (for this line).
I also noticed at Wal-Mart yesterday that they had the spring reset sheets taped to the pegs and Joe still had 4 pegs for singles and 3 pegs for comic packs. Maybe once the resets are complete, we'll see new product. Although with the reset in January, it was a few weeks before anything hit the shelves. |

participate in your area sightings thread and make friends online with other collectors in your area. I've hooked up numerous people on the board in my area with stuff they couldn't find, and in turn have had the same done for me. doing so expands your coverage into areas you don't travel. better to have 5 sets of eyes on the lookout than just your two.
I usually buy all the hard to find stuff I find on shelves, then hook my buddies up with them at cost. does it screw collectors out in my area that aren't on Hisstank? I suppose, but then they should come participate on Hisstank. I'd rather the figures go to someone I know on here, who will in turn return the favor, than someone that I don't know. |

Yes, it's been pretty barren around the Valencia area too. Hasbro obviously didn't anticipate the interest and desire for these awesome figures. I have a feeling the Hasbro forgets from time to time that these classics characters are as beloved as Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse were to there respective generations. Hasbro just doens't do there homework it seems.
