I was still pretty hot on MOTU at the time, then just about the time I was hanging around with the kids across the street..maybe I was 6 or 7? They all had Joes....and that was it. It kinda happened together, I fell in love with their Joes and the cartoon was on after school.
Even before the 25th stuff I have a small amount of vintage stuff that I would bust out and just "check on" every now and again. Now, of course its still cool..I wouldnt be here if I still didnt genuinely love it, but there is a HUGE nostalgic "good memory" feeling that goes with it. The Joe verse in general is just fun, cool, creative, imaginative...I cant imagine any kid not digging it, and for the record if I have a son one day he isnt into Joes...I may beat his ass till he is. Nah I'm just kidding, but seriously that kid would be a great dissapointment lol. |

Star Wars had bad articulation, MOTU was a little pricey, and by the time I noticed Transformers, I had already decided that G.I. Joe was the place for me. My dad was a veteran, so this was something we both had an interest in. He would help me understand the m.o.s of the figures and keep my file cards in order according to rank. I knew from the beginning that Hawk was the leader even before there was a Duke figure. It was all about the toys for me. I never got into the comics, but the cartoons were icing on the cake.

i woke up on a holiday morning and had a vamp, ram , a hal, scarlett and hawk, never seen em before, they were new. my ma must of seen em and decided to get em , and they were a hit. but as soon as joes came out , i was hooked, and the cartoon helped that out even more when that aired.

Right here is why I still collect at age 31 - for a couple minutes when you find that new figure on the shelf and then when you take it home to put it on the display shelf you are that 6 year old kid watching G.I. Joe on T.V. and saving the world with little plastic soldiers.

I don't remember. Something about a park and a giant rabbit or whatever.
