I missed quite a few of the joe ninjas. I didn't realize there were so many. Hasbro's slacking. Remake some of those guys. We don't need Snake Eyes (version forty something).

In my Joe-verse the Ninja Vipers are bunch of bumbling idiots with mediocre martial-arts skills that think they're "ninjas" but are really used as cannon fodder/distractions by the Night Creepers and Red Ninjas. Slice and Slash are their "official" leaders, but are really just there to give them enough martial arts training to make them look dangerous (far cry from actually -being- dangerous) and convince them of their own awesomeness. Any Ninja Viper that shows genuine talent or brainpower is quickly snapped up by the Night Creepers or Red Ninjas.
The Ninja Vipers are basically a bunch of RealUltimatePower guys. I guess it's my own small way of dealing with "Ninja Overload." |

Joes:
1) Bazooka 2) Junkyard 3) Doc 4) Blowtorch 5) Snake-eyes Cobra: 1) Crystal Ball 2) Raptor 3) Stormshadow 4) Roadpig What? Can't anyone be a ninja in the Joe-verse? :-P Seriously, though, if I were to try to list my Joe-verse ninja, it would probably wind up just being SE, SS, Jinx, Nightcreepers, and maybe the red ninja. With that said, SE would consider his ninja past as just part of what makes him who he is and Jinx is more of a 'in training' whose official assignment to the Joe team is intelligence and support. Yes, I'm definitely in the camp of 'just a pinch of ninja'. Ninja are better unseen and unheard. But it is interesting to see the expanded lists. In my most unqualified and humble opinion, if you start allowing people like Scarlett to be 'ninja', then people like Quick-kick could be considered as well (despite that she was officially on Ninja Force) or even other MMA experts like Torpedo.

You're right. Scarlett was part of ninja force. And according to the movie, Baroness was Storm Shadows best student. But i'm surprised. throughout this thread, there's some major dissin' on Quick Kick. What gives? Does he owe everyone money,or what?

I don't think people are dissing on old MacArthur Ito (unless I'm missing some sort of subtext). I'm a big Quick-Kick fan, but I don't consider him in any way as a ninja. He's trained in wing chun, tai chi chuan, Goju-ryū karate, Zen (Mugai-ryū) swordsmanship, taekwondo, and Southern Praying Mantis, but not ninjutsu.

Finally, a show of love for Quick Kick. He's been around for awhile. Was he around before or after jinx? I think it was before. He may not be certified ninja, but the guy's on the team specifically for his martial arts skills. They didn't hire him for his talents in basket weaving or Hiaku.

He was introduced in 1985, two years before the Jinx figure was released. He was my first ever GI Joe action figure, which partially explains my fondness for the character.

I think Troy got it right so I wont say much.
I just always thought Storm Shadow was the quintessential ninja of the Joe world. Even more so then Snake Eyes. Though the comics proved me wrong. No guns, no commando, he was all ninja all the time. When you say G.I. Joe and Ninja, for me Stormy is the 1st thing that comes to mind. |
