I'm glad the A-V is getting a better color scheme. Always loved the figure, hated the colors.

If I were a JOE and the situation was that the ALLEY VIPERS had an area locked down, say a building they were holding for strategic advance.
And civilian casualties were nil... I'd be like : "Screw this, air strike them." But the dilemma there is that the ALLEY VIPER would keep civilians as hostages or something to avoid an air bombardment. So as a JOE, it'd be time to re-think the method of attack...which is again another reason why a battle with ALLEY VIPERS would be so tough... |

I see the shields as riot shields carried by law enforcement. Riot shields are lightweight protection devices deployed by police and some military organizations. Most are a clear polycarbonate, though some are constructed of light metals with a view hole. Riot shields are almost exclusively long enough to cover an average sized man from the top of the head to the knees. Some riot shields are designed to be bullet resistant against low velocity handgun and shotgun ammunition, but most are not. They are generally intended to be used in Riot control, to protect the user from shrapnel, thrown projectiles, and splash from various weapons such as a Molotov cocktail. -WIKI
Wanna bet your life on a 7.62 round with that shield. |

I don't know what it's made of. Probably some crazy fictional alloy.
If you're going man-to-man with a squad of ALLEY VIPERS it's gonna be so tough. Because even their body armor is set to take a machine gun bast pretty much point blank, let alone they have that shield to take the brunt of the damage as well. And the faceplate. |

a 7.62 seems like the obvious choice to construct the ALLEY VIPER'S shield to defend against.
Like when in the design phase that would be the bullet they would most def make the shield and the body armor impervious to, because it's such a standardized round. |

The original file card from 1989 states that Alley Vipers as part of their initiation must endure a machine gun blast to their frontal armor. I would assume that if it were 9mm ammo it would be a sub machine gun so perhaps their armor is stern enough to take a blast from 7.62mm as well as their shield.
