I had a talk with both my father, former Green Beret and a fellow employee at the school I work at a JROTC SGT; I asked both which of the 2 is heavier?
On account of the 09 Zap figure carries the Bazooka like nothing and a small pack for shells On the other side of the coin Short Fuze has the BIG ASS mortar but no pack for shells; I quickly substituted a Bazooka backpack equiped with shells and the carrier for the Mortar. But which of the 2 is heavier in any other opinions? |

Takes one Man to carry a Bazooka, Two to fire it. Where as a Mortar takes Two to Three men team to carry and operate. I would have to say the Mortar is heavier damn weightplate.

Eh it's GI Joe it doesn't have to be real. I've never seen a GI Joe that wanted to use correct weight abilities lol. If they did some of the weapon guys would need to come with more then two figures to carry it. If it looks cool and good use it.

Cool thanks I really wanted to get another Zap figure just for the pack but for 10 bucks online alone just for a backpack??? I figure give SF the poor mans pack, besides Hasbro dropped the ball on SF anyway. Too makin him look almost authentic took the a visor helmet, and of course the belt and harness from the all blk SE.

I prefer the classic look of Short Fuze - mortar shells on his back and hand carrying his light mortar |

Mortors are really heavy. Small one man portable mortors do exist, but largely have been phased out due to the fact their payload was too small. Interestingly enough DOC's flare launcher looks more like a WW2 Japanese "knee" mortor than a flare launcher (the knee mortor was not to be braced against the knee, but was actually the size 2 mortor or ni in Japanese). Anyway, my Joeverse answer has always been that much of the large equipment that would be too heavy for one man in real life but is carried by a single joe is made from advanced alloys. Like Shortfuse has a titaniun alloy mortor. Why not? The U.S. gov't hasn't been shy about defense spending since the 1930's.

Yeah, alot of concessions have to be made for the Joes to operate "as is" (meaning as in the figures). Mortar teams are typically 3-5 men. The tanks need a crew, can't be driven and fired by one.
