Does anyone here specialize in the Marvel run (#'s 1-155) ??
Q: the barcode in the bottom left hand corner, or the black Spiderman face logo, any difference? They are all "first runs" (Vol.1) but i am wondering if there is any distinction. Thank you. |

usually the spidey face were on the comics that came in the mail, and didn't need a barcode, like the ones you would buy at the store. like the difference between subscription magazines and those you buy off the newstand.

Some info here (first paragraph) about how and when they came into being: http://www.comicbookresources.com/co...d&article=2892 |

I get it now. Much appreciated. Here's another example. I sometimes see issues with a slogan in that box. For example "give the gift of literacy" or "the fall of the mutants is coming".

The barcode ones are 'Newstand' versions, that were sold at your local drug store or book store. The Spidey (or non-barcode) ones are 'Direct Market', which were usually/mostly/only? sold in comic shops. This used to be the way it was. Now both 'Newstand' and 'Direct Market' versions carry the barcode
