I really like the idea of the surviving Joes and Cobras having to work together in an uneasy truce. I can see Destro and Flint sharing an unofficial command with Bludd and Beachhead on either side, pushing the opposite sides of the moral boundaries.

I def think Destro, Zartan etc would have a change of heart. I dont think of Cobra like Decepticons...I think its more about money and some very delusional and dangerous people vying for power...unlike say a guy like Megatron who would just stomp the human race for personal enjoyment.
This would be a great opportunity for the writer to explore the dark side of some of the Joes and perhaps role reversal with some of the Cobras....when there isnt too much left to fight for and it comes down to survival, who knows what lurks in the hearts of men? Maybe Flint isnt that squeaky clean, maybe Zartan does have a heart and a sense of concious and we see that explored. Fun stuff either way. |

This would make a great "What if" story line.

Right.
The Joes are soldiers, not super heroes. They have the right/wrong moral compass, but being soldiers might be more easy to sway to more harsher measures and making more murky moral choices. Take a Cobra like Firefly, who's main motivation has been money and love of destruction. Money is gone, there's no need of it anymore, it has no purpose. What's there to destroy? No one wants someone that just destroys. What does he do? Does he hire himself out for security, being paid in food and shelter? How does he scratch his itch for destruction? Or does the destruction of society have a positive affect on him? Makes him view himself in a different life. Looks at the destroyed world and thinks "this is what I was working towards" and "is this what I really want?" And he now becomes a force for good, going out of his way to help others? Lowlight. Always one of the meaner Joes, not as compassionate. How would this change him? Would he become harder, even less compassionate? Willing to let an innocent die so the strong survive?

An earlier post mentioned Flint taking charge of a group and Bludd being his second in command. I could totally see Flint, especially if LJ wasn't around, getting pretty dark. Anyone that spit and polish is hiding something, just sayin'...

Beachhead's always been tough on recruits.
Can you imagine how tough he'd be if the survival of the human race was at stake? What about a pacifist like Lifeline? How far can a non-violet belief carry someone in a destroyed world? I've never seen Flint as the "spit and polish" guy. He's always been the rulebreaker to me. Takes the rules as far as they can go, bends 'em, but doesn't break 'em. Now Duke, that's Mr. All-American, the "spit and polish" guy. Which is why I never liked DDP. They screwed up right at the start and proved (to me) that they didn't know the characters. Duke never would have joined the CIA, that would have been Flint.

I see Flint as the "so the orders are to do this, but he didn't say how to do it" and Duke as the "the orders are this, let's go"
