Personally, I don't see why everyone thinks there has to be a distinction between "Commando" Snake-Eyes and "Ninja" Snake-Eyes. It isn't as if they're not complementary skillsets. He's just Snake-Eyes. A guy with mad military qualifications who also happens to be a master of ninjitsu. Far fetched? Maybe, but not much more so than many of the other Joes' skillsets and qualifications. They're pretty much all "super troopers" to some extent. Particularly the folks from the "golden years" of ARAH. |

Now you're exaggerating. Out of close to 300 characters, less than 20 or so are ninjas.

Apparently ALOT of people dont like the whole Ninja thing. Then theres people like me who love G.I.Joe and the entire ninja story line is by far my favorite aspect....not to take away from the military stuff, thats great too...but if it werent for SS and SE I probably wouldnt have gotten into collecting Joes and the whole Joe-Verse to the degree that I do today.
I dont have a problem with people not liking certain charecters, I just think its stupid when people blast ninjas because GI Joe is supposed to be military themed. Yes of course the core of the whole thing is a cream of the crop special military force....but it has always been more then that! Cobra La, Serpentor, CC turning into a frigin snake! Star Brigade, Zartan and the Dreadnoks alone...so I dont think Ninjas or NF for that matter are too far fetched. Its always been a great combo of reality based themes that often intertwine with the "fantastic". |

IMHO Snake Eyes is cool for the following reasons:
1- He has an interesting origin overshadowed by tragedy and Shakesperian pathos and intrigue. Not only was he once a good soldier who fought the good fight, rescued his buddies and nearly died for his country, but he also ends up being trained by a ninja clan...almost as an after-thought!! To me that aspect of the characters history was always incredibly interesting. He is gaijen and yet he trained in a very mysterious and heavily respected martial arts discipline, with his best friend, who just happens to be Japanese. What drives a man to succeed at that discipline, and how would those skills augment an already determined and well-honed soldier? It would make him bad-ass, that's what!! 2- Who doesn't like characters who either can't speak or refuse to speak (depending on whether you are referring to comic or movie continuity)? After all, a man of few words (or no words) is almost universally respected and considered mysterious. 3- He has one of the best and most consistently cool uniforms ever created! We are talking iconic, on the level of Superman's S logo, Hellboy's horns, or Wolverine's claws. Snake Eyes is almost universally well known for his trademark costume. That's a testament to the original design (simplicity with a touch of the odd), and the character's rise to prominence in the minds of every Joe fanboy the world over. |

Snake-Eyes wasnt in the live action movie that much. The movie was more about Duke and Baroness, lol.
Vader and Maul beat out Snake-Eyes in the over made figures department. |

I used to love nothing but Snake Eyes. And I agree Commando SE is the beter and that's why many of us like CS SE. I personaly hate other people getting swords. Why the hell does (overused) Duke get a sword? But more than SE going down, I am begining to HATE Storm Shadow and I used to love him too. Bring on new characters........
