Rock Vipers. They climb stuff. Like no one with the right equipment can climb a rock? And then once they get there, what do they do? Pretty much nothing. Dump them, and just make sure your guys know how to use a rope. >

By the way there is no use but man it looks cool. Can you tell I was a fan of the dreaded and hated years of GI Joe? |

It's stupid for GI Joe I guess but for a comic book monster that sounds pretty cool. |

One thing people have to remember is that the Viper classes don't function in squads made up of their own class, but rather, and integrated into squads based on what the mission demands. That means in a squad of, say, twelve Vipers, you would have probably eight Vipers (including someone with the rank of corporal and an NCO), a Tele-Viper maybe, a SAW Viper to fill the LMG gap, and maybe a couple Laser Vipers coupled with a pair of HEAT Vipers... The later four are to take out enemy armor, while the others in the squad protect them. Given the terrain, you could always substitute two or three regular Vipers for Range Vipers or whatever to suit the environment. Not 'then', than! THAN! |

Such research and development necessary to create such a specialized class surely cannot be economically viable. Though I don't doubt there are useful in certain situations, I can't think of a particular niche these troops would fit into that couldn't be filled with some sort of less-expensive alternative. It's a simple equation of cost and necessity, after all. |

I think most Viper's post 1986 were misses. The wacky colors and monster gimmicks really ruined Joe collecting for me.
ROC Vipers are too Cobra-La-ish, which was probably the point. Not a big fan of Inect looking Cobra's. |

Take a Range Viper, give him all the Rock Vipers gear, Rock Vipers looked dumber than hell anyways. As for most useless, I would say Mega Vipers. Weren't they supposed to be Monster-Viper handlers? Then give them a damn whip/leash or something! |

According to the filecard, 1/4 man + 1/4 shark + 1/4 piranha + 1/4 giant squid = Bio-Viper. Hasbro's designers were probably trying to cash in on the whole Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles craze. |

Don't count the Laser Viper out just yet. Their lasers, contrary to popular belief, is used primarily to 'paint' targets for laser-guided weapons, such as anti-tank rockets or laser-guided air-to-ground bombs. Though technically any trooper trained with such devices would be able to do the same job, Cobra has simply decided to make a special class out of them and provide them with a distinguishing uniform. Hell, give'em an AK-74 and they can hang around with the other guys in the squad!
They should have made "Logistics Vipers" and "Cook Vipers", as far as I'm concerned. Much more important specialties to an army than a guy who paints targets and that's ALL he does.

Psychological warfare? I guess it's supposed to scare the crap out of Joes, but I don't know if the purple and pink helps that any...
