I'm just curious to see how you guys see Zartan in your universe...
Marvel's interpretation always made him out to be the Crafty Assassin, while most recent adaptation (DD?) made him more mentally unstable. I prefer a mixture of both myself. |

A master of disguise, more of the RoC version than anything.
I don't seen him as a crafty assassin like Storm Shadow, but he would have to be an assassin as part of his job, just not that good. He relies more on his disguise ability to get himself in and out.

When I wrote my fan script I purposly wrote him as mysterious. Never explaining certain things. I figured I'd get into that part if there was enough interest to do the sequal.

However, there is a part of me that can see Zartan simply getting off impersonating people just because he can. |

Wouldn't a master of disguise make a crafty assassin? I remember watching some show on ninja assassins, I think Stephen Hayes was in it. His objective was to get close enough to assassinate a guarded target and get out. He disguised himself as a plumber or other maintenance worker and got in. Outside of assassination, the other place for a master of disguise would be espionage.
I do tend to think of Zartan at least a little mentally unbalanced. But if it was too severe, he wouldn't be able to disguise himself as much but a homeless bum on the NY streets. |

I've always seen Zartan as the ultimate anarchist. He's the guy whose only interest is self-preservation and the destruction of the world order. He's only and assassin for hire if it suits his needs. Having the uncanny ability to blend into any situation is his greatest asset and makes him invaluable to infiltrate and then break down any organized summit. This is what makes him valuable to Cobra and by working for Cobra, Zartan is able to eliminate some of the more stronger world powers until the time is right to overthrow Cobra.

A little of both. He's killed the Prime Minister, injured the President. But he's always worried someone will catch him in a disguse.

'Paranoid Schizo' sounds like the juicier story fodder.
'Crafty Assassin?' On some levels, yes. 'Heartless Mercenary' - more than anything; ruled by his own motivation. |
