You seem a bit defensive in your post. Let me lay your mind to rest. I'm not sure that qualifies you as a "scalper".
I ordered a second MOTU Scareglow as leverage to later sell/trade for something I wanted. However, I didn't drive around town searching every store buying every "elusive" figure so that I could turn profit when nobody else could get them. There in lies the difference. And, as I said before, it's not illegal. Just dickish. I can't really understand why some do this either but I'll try. Maybe one reason is to sell the extra's to a store or online store for credit, to afford something else. It's kinda scalpy. Another reason could be to drive up demand locally for the said figure. Maybe like me or you they want multiple bargaining chips to trade with. I personally think that's excessive but that's neither here nor there. A final reason could actually be benevolent they could be buying multiples to hook board members up with. I've done it a few times. Where my intentions were good but I actually created a local shortage of something. Example, there were many collectors nationally, looking for the latest JLU 3 packs, (I know WTF? Right?) and I came upon a lot of them recently and bought the whole stock for guys in Indiana, Iowa, Texas, and Ohio. All for cost and shipping mind you in case anyone was wondering. Scalping is kind of shitty, but I don't hate them like some do. I just don't support them is all. |

I think almost every person on this board and every other toy board has bought something as a, shall we say, "bargaining chip". I bought an extra Hordak and Man At Arms this past year, in the event I don't get Battlecat or some other damn thing I have to have. There really isn't anything wrong with it. I think what some of the anti-hoarders are chastising is the collectors who will buy every Helix out of eight Wave 3 cases because they knew she was hot, just to prevent others from getting it.
