This is not a custom thread but more of a general GI Joe thread.
Here is a question, does Hasbro look at our customs? If they do do they use our ideals to make new products? Here is my reason for asking this. I made a custom Snake Armor early this year (see the picture bellow) and after opening up a new Target Exclusive Snake Armor I am having a hard time believing they didn't use my custom as the basic ideal for this release. Maybe it is just a coincidence but maybe it isn't. Either way it is pretty cool. I loved making the Black Armor and seeing it on the shelves makes me feel pretty good. Any ideals?

They would be crazy if they didn't... I'll bet there are several people at Hasbro making some serious money because they pitched ideas they saw on sites like this.
If Hasbro ever used one of mine as an idea for a production toy, that would make my day! (of course, if they did, nobody would buy it!!!!) |

smile with the knowledge that you pioneered the change in our minds
i WISH they would take any of my dozens of customs i've done to heart, like any of the rattlers, or python patrol vehicles i've done. i still can't find any snake armors :(

Coincidence. Their SNAKE Armor had to be well into the design process by the time yours was made.

i agree, in reality, they likely have these planned far in advance.
i'll still give you credit though it's fun to at least think we are ahead of the game.

I noticed the similarity, but personally, I would think that relatively unlikely.

Sam I was never a fan of the snake armor. what is similar to yours and theirs outside of the black? In other words did you add something or remove something that the new one has?
Also I do believe that Hasbro looks at our customs....why not! They are getting free labor out of you. Look it at from their perspective.....person A buys several GI JOE's and takes it home she takes it apart and rebuilds another figure out of what she has. the Fans go crazy and Hasbro says; "Hey, we can do that figure and it looks pretty damn good" They spent no labor on this thing and Person A (irony here) worked for free for them. Not only did person A work for free but person A paid them to do it!!! Case in point that Hasbro encourages us to customize....... big business does nothing for the little guy unless it makes a buck for them. We are their design team to some extent....... a very small extent but (for those) who would deny it would be silly. |
