I believe it was in how the question was asked and the examples given. In this thread, the question is does Hasbro get inspiration and ideas from seeing what the customizers are making, you claimed they were stealing customizers ideas in your thread. Also with the exception of the Arctic Hiss, your other examples were fairly weak such as suggesting Hasbro got the idea to make a tiger force Rattler from a customizer rather than from the vintage release of it they made in 1988 or claiming they stole the idea of detailed guns with removable parts from Marauder John rather than using what they've already done in the past with figures like Bullhorn's break-apart sniper rifle from 1990
I know this may sound like splitting hairs and such, but sometimes it's all in how a question is asked. But let's get back to the topic at hand lest we find ourselves breaking the rules further by continuing to discuss administrative action taken in the past. |

Thanks , damned if I can find it now though. All he was made of though was Junkyard w/ leash, baton, clear vest Zartan (vestless), Mutt's padded arm and hand, and red resolute trooper vest. Simple, yet effective. Then over 6 months down the line, a brilliant idea from Hasbro was a Cobra attack dog trainer on steroids. Genius, what an original idea...
That reason is why I don't make/have made for me, customs that are "safe"...for fear Hasbro will "borrow" or "gain inspiration from" my ideas again. Flash and Micheal Vick are beyond the age range of Hasbro's intended audience but still within the limits of being viewable on the 'tank, so my ideas and imagination stay mine and I can show them off (with proper credit given to the ones that made them.) If I have offended anyone, sorry. *Dogs are the product of Prince of Fire & Thunder *Flash and both Micheal Vick's are from TANK_DRIVER785 Last edited by M. Aster Karver; 12-02-2009 at 05:17 PM.. |

Yeah, they do. I had a Cobra dog trooper I made, and someone else had a Jungle Viper and you had the SNAKE armor. When Hasbro introduced Night Adder and the upcoming Jungle Viper, they had been given a new look, but the idea was taken well after 6 months after they had been unveiled here by us. Yours was easy enough to do and required a different paint job.
I wish Hasbro saw the Paris Pursuit Scarlett and made that one too! Hahaha... funny, I've never known Sam to hold back. Just think she doesn't blow smoke like some of us (looks away quickly while whistling.... )

While I think it is easy to be influenced by customs you've seen (even subconsciously) the customizers whom I have met take a lot of pride in their work. They are true professionals. While fans suggesting product lines may fall under their sphere of influence, they clearly have much more to consider than just overall look. They are taking into account not only functionality, durability, and overall presentation. They also need to consider cost. They were talking about how when they complete a project and it comes to considering cost, a design change may be needed to reduce a paint color, the amount of plastic or some other accessory that would have been perfect but not in budget.
The design team goes to these conventions and they see the customs. They even judge the customs for prize allocation. This is great to keep them in line with the fan base. But the overall design comes from their creativity. Many musicians we all listen to are influenced by other musicians. But their work is original. How many bands learned how to play music by listening to the WHO, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Stones? They are writing music now with that influence in their heads but new stuff coming out of their instruments. I think the Hasbro design team would be very similar to that. DD
