Hey guys!
I am new around here but I hope you will help me nonetheless... I am trying to make a list of ALL GI Joe toys (I am helping to build an online wiki style encyclopaedia of toys... ) and I would need some GI Joe experts to advise me if my division makes sense... So far, I divided the products into thee 3 main categories: Original Series and Adventure Team (1964-78) 3 3/4 Figures (1982 – 1994) Collector Editions (1990s to 2000) Each of these is further divided. Original series includes: Action Girl Series Action Marine Series Action Pilot Series Action Sailor Series Action Soldier Series Action Soldiers of the World Adventure Team Adventures of G.I. Joe Action Series, Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force Super Joe 3 3/4 Figures include GI Joe and Cobra Series from 01 to 13. Collector Editions is made up from: 12“ Hall of Fame 30th Salute Series Action Assortment Alpha Assortment Armed Forces Assortment Armed Forces Service Collection Astronaut Assortment Bravo Assortment Core Figure Assortment Delta Assortment Echo Assortment Foreign Assortment Fourth of July Edition Greatest Heroes Historical Commanders Assortment Holiday Salute Hollywood Heroes Military Sports Assortment Modern Forces Assortment Pearl Harbor Collection WWII Commemorative Figures, Target Exclusive WWII Forces Assortment I do not know yet how will I deal with the products of 2000 forward... But I would be eternally if you tell me your opinion on this "taxonomy" issue Would you divide it differently? What would you change? Thanks! |

I'm not sure about your collector's assortment breakdowns. If it's fro 12" then I have no clue since don't follow that line
Check out yojoe.com and their archive, there's everything up until 2009 product (which SLOWLY SO VERY SLOWLY gets updated). The 3 3/4" went beyond 1994, way beyond. There's the G.I. Joe vs Cobra 2 packs, the Spytroops stuff, the VvV stuff, the DTC stuff and now the 25th/ME stuff and RoC. Most people divide up the 3 3/4" by figure construction: O-Ring (the ARAH stuff) New Sculpt (Spytroops) Modern Era (the 25th anniversary stuff, ME isn't the official name cause there really isn't one yet)

So you think the 3 3/4'' figures can be clasiffied into the three catogories you mentioned regardless the year they have been produced? Where would then the accessories go?
I checked the yojoe archive, but they only seem to have the 3 3/4'' stuff (since 1982). I would need also the older, 12'' things... but still, thanks for the tip, it will help me at least in something But to make me even more confused, the categorization they have on Joepedia (G.I. Joe Wiki - Joepedia - GI Joe, Cobra, toys) is different as well :P Ha, but better have too much info than too little Thanks once more! |
