don't know if I should tag this in with the Live movie threads instead of here but here goes
I've been reading that the SW bounty hunters Live show is being slates for 2012 launch date I was just wondering does anyone think a live action joe show would work or fail? I was thinking along the lines of SG or even BSG . I mean those are predominately military shows and the G'uald aren't excactly a Terrorist organization. but would it work ? given the right mix of Writers and cast?

The thing with both Star Gate and Battlestar is that yes, they have a military feel to them, but they also have a very wild and fantastic spin to them. (IE: Traveling to different planets, Based in space)
As wild and crazy as Cobra is, it's not that crazy. That said, we have a lot of cop shows and forensic science shows. Both of which usually are more murder mysteries disguised as cop shows, you could probably make a GI Joe show work if you could find the right "spin" for it. I think just an action TV show, may not actually work so well. |

ah what about Jag that kinda had a long run too ? but I can see were your coming from about the others in the constantly changing story arcs. but I think you could to joe ones maybe based on side-line chars .but done as a series of short stories that interlink within the Joeverse.

Ya know, I had a line about NCIS and JAG But that's when I realised they were more of murder mystery/court room drama shows and I changed my post to reflect the idea of finding the right spin
Chuckles would be a character that might actually work in a show. You've probably seen this exact same character in shows like NCIS or 24 |

yeah. still if lucas can make a show based just on the bounty hunters surly they could make one on the joeverse. even like using the comic writers as writers for it. I know comics are a totaly diffrent way of telling a story but some of the stuff in them would be sweet like a Firefly Declassified episode . or one about SE's origin .those kinda shows could kinda give more background to each char and have them connected to each other ins some hidden way .

Joe would work if was kind of like the old Mission Impossible series, but there has to be some kind of a "hook" to get people to keep coming back.
The Unit is what a Joe show would really end up being.

Live action tends to overwhelm itself with pushing the special effects and actors wanting more screen time. A good, solid animated series wound be just fine.

^^^This is the formula here.^^^
GIJOE has infinite potential as a dramatic property, in my humble opinion. I strongly believe in its potential to equal and even outdo some of the most well-written TV series ever. However, the quality of any interpretation will be dependent upon those who adapt it.
