Hasbro wanted to do this some 15 years ago but the idea was scrapped. It looked good tho.

Adult Fans would hate it because it would be too cheesy/"kiddy." You're never going to see a "BSG" style Joe series, because Hasbro still wants G.I. Joe to primarily be for kids, and a live-action series would be far too great an expense for the niche market that is adult collectors. Even if the show were a big hit with the grown-ups it wouldn't necessarily transfer into toy sales...adults who don't buy toys aren't going to start just because they like a show.
Kids would hate it because it isn't a cartoon, or because Mommy and Daddy won't let them watch it because it's "too adult" or something. Either way, I don't see a live-action Joe working, at least not in any manner that people would actually like. Of course, regardless of what they did some people would hate it simply for being different. |

I don't know where people got this indication that it's as easy as "we want to make a cartoon, let's do it!" Because it really isn't if you don't have your own in-house studio(s) and distributors (to say nothing of outlets) to do it. |

I think anything outside of a cartoon will be a fail.

I think the closest show that's been on lately would be "The Unit". Obviously there were differences, but still, "The Unit" was based on Delta Force and that's a lot like the Joes.
The thing about "The Unit" is that it was SO expensive to film. They cut cost by cutting action scenes and using a lot of filler - the sub-plots with the wives at home. What "The Unit" never showed was the story of the enemy. A Joe show would have to show Cobra - and that would probably more expensive to film than the Joe scenes. It would also need to show a lot of action - which costs a lot of money. It's also a fact that Women make up a huge part of the television market. That's why "The Unit" used the sub-plot with the wives: to get female viewers. That's not going to be as much of a factor with the Joes. So all in all, I don't think it's financially feasible. I would love to see it, if it were done well. But I don't think it would produce enough ratings and revenue to pay for it.

With shows like 24, The Unit, Jericho, Kings and Lost they can do just about anything. So it really depends on how they do it..... would it be really expensive to give GI JOE real millitary tech.? yeah kinda....Could they go the way of making GI JOE more of a branch like the FBI or CIA....thus having the ability to leave out hardcore tech. (ie, Tanks, Jets, etc.) Very Plausible!!!!!
But again it would require a different spin on GI JOE and that will send the fan boys in a frenzy. If they do make it correctly, it will be crazy expensive.
