I've always been a toy collector, the thrill of the hunt, etc... I've done star wars, spawn, wwe, etc... But growing up my favorite was GI joe. I have pretty much worn tired on collecting, and trying to collect it all. So I'm sticking to my guns, I've pretty much sold off all of my other collections, or parted them out to the point of non existance, just hanging onto my very favorite pieces.
I couldn't collect all the star wars, so gave up sold almost all of it, just really like my few side show dolls, and a few pieces and ships. Spawn is just a few pieces, mostly with a nostalgic feel to the old dungeons and dragons collection that I still have original to my childhood, and have vowed to never part with. Wwe/tna I have a few favorite wrestlers, sold and selling the rest. Transformers almost all gone, same with MASK, and ufc. The toy bug bites, and when it does I'm sticking only to anniversary, resolute, and classic redo's. And some expanded joeverse stuff. And when Joe drys up this time, my toy collecting days are over. To many other responsibilities, hobbies, and living expenses, to keep buying the newest, and latest toy trends and fads.

I would say that I collect, but that is only a small part of it. I like to customize, and still customize some of my favorite figs from my childhood. Still looking for that perfect Firefly fig. I also went through years where I wanted to collect, but couldn't afford it/was ashamed to start. Now I can afford it and I don't care what others think, and I don't want to miss a whole round of cool vehicles and figures like I did in the late 90's/early 00's.
MY NAME IS JOSH AND I'M A COLLECTOR!!!

I would say it's mostly nostalgia for me. I'm pushing the big 4-0 and I like to be surrounded by trinkets that reflect my youth. I like being able to pick up a VAMP or HISS and be transported back to 1983 for a few minutes. I did collect anything and everything Joe for years but quickly ran out of space. I sold all my excess stuff off and now strictly collect vintage and re-done vintage era figures.

I buy ARAH for me.
I bought 25th for me and the boy to share. I buy ROC for him. They are cool just not my joes and I am fine with that. I see it as our folks had the big Joes, we had the screw and o ring, and now the next gen gets what will be their GI Joe. |

I effin love Joes.always have.
my best Christmas Memories are of the years I got Joes off Santa too dont get me wrong I always had and appreciated great Christmas's but Joe Christmas rules the roost for me.......doing it again this year!! Fiona(my fiancee) is very supportive of my collective habits but out of all the things I collect Fiona seems to dig Joes the most....hell she helped me buy the Flagg back in 2006!! too many reasons to list why I collect them really.I just never get tired of them. |
