Well with all the sale news I wonder if my three simple E-mails had anything to do with it.
Two weeks ago or less there was all these threads about how expensive the figures were. I then drafted an e-mail to Walmart, TRU and Target with the following sample (for Walmart) _________ I am sure that I am not the only one who may have written to you in regard to a specific item or product in your toy aisles and your website. GI Joe toys are very popular amongst children and collectors, I happen to buy for both reasons. When I was a child, I had GI Joe figures and vehicles and so does my son. That said, I would like to offer some advice for your continued sales of specifically this product. I encourage you to review your inventories vs sales in the past week, two, month. You will find that the product is not moving. TRU has already had these items on sale twice at 2 for 9.99 and the sale was successful but the pegs filled back up again. They need to do more and so should you. YOU must lower the price, I have seen Walmart lower the price on these items and raise them back up again. I would strongly consider lowering your price to below the 6.00 mark. When GI JOE debuted in 2007 Walmart was selling these figures for 4.99. I suggest this because Hasbro has sold you figures that are not selling...they are far too expensive and I have seen children purchase other items when they cannot afford GI Joe. This can and should be a temporary measure to alleviate your stock problems. You have new product waiting to ship and surely waiting to put on the floors. Of course I dont want to see the product like die like others have and all retailers have a responsibility to sell their product. At this price it cannot make it and you'll be forced to clearance it. Consider a sale, that is the best advice I can offer and you will see the figures sell quickly. Lower the prices and you'll be able to offer the rest of the GI Joe line that is waiting in the wings. Thanks for your time. ___________ Now after I sent this, I got three replies. A live reply from Target stating that the idea of lowering the was an "interesting idea". A reply from TRU stating that they would forward the notes to the appropriate department, sounded like a dodge but they did eventually follow up...and one reply from Walmart where I think the canned reply was totally off topic all together but I did write back and insist that my note was not about the online site at all but about the prices on this product in general. I got a thanks and we'll forward on. Fast forward to today and we have 5.99 for prices on the figs now at Target and possibly at TRU...we can expect Walmart if they play along to go to 5.98 or 5.88! Did I do this or were there some other guys out there helping or did they finally just figure it out??? (pun intended) |

It is possible that yours and hopefully many others got in the ear of the man. At least you put the effort in. Many voices can make a difference and hopefully that was the case.

I myself have emailed target, true, and walmart a few times about this as I'm sure many other tankers have. Hopefully they finally got the message! Thanks man!
