I just have a couple of things I've been wondering about;
1st-How many people since the release of the 25th line will stop collecting, or maybe have even sold off their classic "ARAH" type figures and how many will either keep on collecting ARAH, or even mix-and-match, with the new. I'm really wondering if they go together, if you know what I mean. 2nd-How many openers actually "play" with their figures, and if so do you think non-rough play will effect or ruin figs? I ask this because my nephews always ask to play with the new figs, and I allow it -they play easy, (my daughter will soon be the age). I know when I was younger I had alot of "loose leg" and broken thumbs, but that was from years of abuse... I would really like to know what everyone thinks.......... |

I did stop collecting everything else besides the 25th line. My old joes just sit in a huge storage box waiting for my son to be old enough to play with them.
As for opening figures and playing with them, i don't. At least not yet. One of these days again, when my son is old enough, we will sit down and crack them all open. I am expecting my son to be a little rough with them because i was as a child and that is what little boys do. There will almost for certain be broken fingers and loose legs but they can always be replaced or repaired. I have noticed though, my old original joes were made with stronger plastic it seems like than the newer ones. Again it might just be me... |

Well I don't collect the old ARAH figure but the new 25ths and Spy Troops, VvV, and some some others from 2002+. The main reason if because I wasn't born in the 80's and it's hard for me to get those joes and other joes because the only money I get is allowance money.
I open all of my figures (I still like playing with them, I am going to enjoy it before I become older and stop wanting to play but just collect, i mean come on... what should a kid do?) I do play with them rogue and less rough towards my favorite figs. I haven't broken anything yet except maybe a gun or torso. |

I don't play with the figures too much, other than to rearrange/repose them on display. So far no problems.
My kids have a few 25th figures of their own, and so far nothing has been broken at all.

I don't have any of the original 80s toys except for the Terrordrome. However, I did get back into the Joes with Valor vs. Venom. But, after the 25th line came out and with all the news of what's coming out this year, I'm really considering selling off all the DTC and VvsV stuff I have. They just don't look right next to the 25th anniversary figures.

The few ARAH figures I had, I sold(except for my Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow figures). Not sure on the JvsC, VvsV, Spytroops figures yet. But my focus will be 25th figures from now on. I don't play with them, but I do rearrange them every so often to change things up a bit. I have 2 sons and when they come visit, they play with the ones I have loose and they play rough, but nothing has ever broke, fig's are nice and sturdy.

Gaelinic I have a few older ARAH figures. I'd like to get more just to have them. Not necessarily to blend with my 25th figures (because they don't). I do have quite a few vehicles too. Older ARAH stuff through the current stuff. I do open most of the figures though. I don't play with them (other than when my daughter wants to use the vehicles and few figures for her animal rescue adventures), I mostly display them. I'll never sell my ARAH line, hell I still buy some here and there when I'm able. VvV got me thiiiiiiis close to resuming my GI Joe collecting back in the ealy 2000's but ultimately I was too disapointed with their sculpts to commit to a new line.
Now the 25th, that's a different story. I'll collect them for the duration of the line, and as long as the movie stuff is of the same scale I'll get that too. As far as playing with them goes. I open one of each and army build, they're all displayed in a corner in my room. I sometimes change their posses, but not often. |
