As a kid I liked the cartoon, but the comic was so much better IMO. With the PIT, Billy, and people actually died....................

I voted for both because as a kid I looked forward to both, now however I only go back to the comics. I will watch the cartoon still when I'm bored. I don't think it's lasted as well as the comic.

Toys first!
Whenever a 25th figure really hits home is when it evokes the feelings of the original. Complain all you want about Cutter's hat, but the colors still did it for me. I like seeing the toys grouped as "teams" from a particular year. Aside from that, when I was old enough to get hardcore into Joes at 9 or so, I read the comics like crazy and the show wasn't on any more. Toon gets some credit since the film helped bring me back in. Prior to this, I had gotten the toys, but even as a small kid, I thought the cartoon was silly. Nowadays, the silliness of the show brings me endless delight. |

I read the comics first, and I think that's one of the reasons I didn't like the cartoon too much. The cartoon was so silly, and it also was more tightly tied into the toy promotion-- older characters were skipped altogether or dropped when a new season came out. The comic was much more rounded in featuring characters.

even as a kid, i thought the cartoon was to juvenile and simplistic compared to the comic. never could get into it ~ remember coming across it years back when Cartoon Network would run it at midnight, and i couldn't even get through a whole episode...
