I've been meaning to post this for a while but I've been lazy and the guy who just posted for ideas about what could be in his own reminded me to ask this one!
What's everyone's Joeverse like? Mine's not even set on this idea of earth; it has different continents and Cobra as we all know it is instead an elite force of bad guys and is led by a psychotic dictator that rules over his holds with an iron fist. The GI Joes are likewise an elite force made up of a contingent of various nations comprised of what is known as the Directorate of Allied States, a special military alliance that was made in the aftermath of a brutal sustained bombing campaign launched on the capital of a peaceful nation that resulted in the deaths of 12 million innocent people. The alliance's sole purpose is to first contain and then liberate the occupied nations of the continent before it's too late - and Cobra has got a vicious stranglehold on much of the region already, and doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon with its highly advanced technology and new applications of tactics and strategy (essentially blitzkrieg taken to the extreme and applied on a mass scale). Basically I envision my Joeverse as one with a very real WW III setting but lacking nuclear power and transitioning from early 80's technology to technology of the middle 21st century (I am integrating my 25th style guys with RoC). While nuclear weapons aren't available, other fantastic technologies like Wraith's invisibility suit have entered prototype stages based off of such things as our own universe's supposed Philadelphia project. Other such differences in my universe include two fields of thought: Cheaply produced and long-range artillery cannons a-la WW I thinking and the more expensive but more accurate cruise missile technologies of today, as well as rocket packs and so forth. The nations of my continent are divided thus: The Cantabrian Supremacy, which is secretly run by the Cobra organization. Rule of law centers from the Archancellor and his personal forces - Cobra - ensure that there is neither dissent nor sedition. They carry out his will with ruthless determination and an iron will, armed with the powers of stolen technology and stolen money from across the continent that sustains the organization and feeds the monstrous war machine that is Cantabria, leading to war crimes and atrocities that would make even Hitler himself blush. The Archchancellor of Cantabria will stop at nothing less than total domination of the continent and will do everything in his power to attain it, even if it means grinding every last city and bastion of resistance into dust. And so far, his war machine has proven nigh invincible. The Directorate of Allied States (Also called the Union, the Alliance, or less commonly the Allies) is a hastily formed alliance consisting of nations from throughout the continent that have yet to fall behind the bloody curtain of Cantabria's barbarism. It is known as the Directorate because its sole purpose is to halt and destroy the Cantabrian menace which threatens all other nations in the region. Normally, such a threat would have gone overlooked and unchecked, indeed for most of the last 50 years wars have been fought on minor scales and in some way or other always resulted in stalemates for both sides. Once news began trickling out of the regions conquered by Cantabria, and with the leveling of an entire capital city, it soon became frighteningly apparent that the only way to preserve their nations in the face of domination was to put aside old hostilities and stand united as one against this horror never before seen. Such countries fighting under the Directorate's simple doctrine include free democracies, minor kingdoms, oil emirates, an empire, and the combined might of the socialist nations of the south. Even with all of these thousands of troops, however, it may still not be enough. Indeed, while Cantabria honed its combat abilities and developed if not stole technology, the rest of the world sat oblivious and content with its own hardware and outdated lines of thinking, and this is painful obvious when comparing the sluggish MOBAT tank against the highly maneuverable and heavy-hitting Cantabrian Gladiator patrol tank. Even their air power is at the moment of no match for the Cantabrian Air Force, the same that leveled an entire capital to dust in just 10 days and murdered 12 million people. The Directorate's special forces are what may shape the outcome of human history in this world. They are hand-picked warriors from the best and finest of each nation in the Directorate, patriots each and all to their respective homelands and passionate about carrying out their commands to the letter. They have no known name, indeed they are the ace in the hole, the trump card when the standard forces of the Directorate falter and fail. It is this unknown force that will sweep in at the darkest moment and jerk victory from the bear trap that is defeat. The Cantabrian military is composed in bulk of mass conscripts, in many cases pulled from the lower levels of society in both the homeland and the occupied countries and given promises of glory and wealth where at once they had neither. Although under-equipped, their training and tenacity in combat has proven to more than outmatch the next country's best regular forces. Noted for their blue suits, they have been nicknamed the "Azul Divisions." Next, noted for their red suits, is the highly trained, highly equipped elite infantry of Cantabria, chosen for their particular devotion and ruthlessness in battle, and composed of the finest soldiers and officers seen in the last century. They wear crimson suits and disdain camouflage, choosing instead to be seen for the psychological impact imposed on an enemy force. Their crimson suits do seem to invoke an idea that these soldiers do not fear death but grin at it. Their best soldiers rank into an ultra-elite branch called the Crimson Guard, and brazenly enter battle with impeccably clean and pressed suits with all their medals and ribbons pinned gloriously on their chests. It is the Crimson Guard that is most renowned and most notorious for their fearlessness and bravery in battle, and even the appearance of one such soldier is usually enough to rally a routing, inferior allied force. Lastly, and most secretively, are Cobra's best of the best, its elite of the elite. Known only as Ultras, these brutal troops have been equipped with the most advanced technology in the world and have been given training the likes of which no one else has ever before seen or known, and these soldiers have even been rumored to have undergone neurosurgeries that have destroyed the parts of the brain that induce fear. It is these Ultras, as few in number as they may be, that are responsible for deep strikes behind enemy lines, bleeding dry finances and funds from the banks of hostile nations, sowing terror and fear amongst enemy regulars and civilians alike. These Ultras are spoken of with a quiver of fear in even the hardest Crimson Guard's voice. |

When you say Joeverse....... I always wondered when someone says their joeverse... So how in-depth do you get? Are there maps, reference guides? Do you do new file cards? Do you put these thoughts down on paper? Or is everything just kept in your head?
I am in no way trying to goof on you or flame you.... so please don't take it that way, kay. |

I dont really have a Joeverse, but when I play with My Joes, I usually have a different story everytime. I have gone indepth with them, But it always gets boring that way. :/ Awesome idea though. You could write a un-joe related story using such ideas.

There are a few things which define my Joeverse that make it very different from any of the canon universes. One is structure.
To start, my Joe team is international and Americans are only a small portion of the team. The Joe team itself is broken into 3 separate squads: Delta 13, Sigma 6, and Beta 7. Delta 13 consists of the original 13 Joes. They are a wetwork team and unknown to the general public. Sigma 6 is the public face of GI Joe and the primary action team. It consists of Budo, Robo-Joe, Ophelia, Mercer, Lt. Stone and Claymore, with Claymore as squad leader and Stone as his XO. Beta 7 is the reserve and support team which aides Sigma 6 when needed. It consists of Shipwreck, Beach Head, Cover Girl, Spirit, Recondo, Low Light, and Jynx. The other main difference is in characters and their relationships, especially Snake Eyes. In my verse, the man known as Snake Eyes' family never died. He was never maimed rescuing Scarlett in Joe's first mission (although the rescue still occurred) and although he trained with the Arashikage Clan he never overshadowed Tomisuro. This version of Snake Eyes also goes by a different code name to reflect his changed history; this man is called Rabbit's Foot. Speaking of the Arashikage Clan, it is an independent organization headed by the Phoenix Master, Tomisuro Arashikage. Tommy is mostly unchanged in his character, except for having found and lost love. Deeper than even his sword brotherhood with Rabbit's Foot, Stormshadow found a kindred spirit in Budo. The disconnect between ninja and samurai though proved too much to bear, Budo's first allegiance being to country and Storm Shadow's to clan. They are still on and off lovers when circumstances allow and because of this Tommy generally will devote the Arashikage Clan's resources towards aiding the Sigma 6 when possible. |

I can see why you've been putting this off! My Joe-verse is a Joe team alot smaller than the one portrayed in the movie. Aptly named Global Interdiction Joint Operations Endeavor. Basically a Contingency of Black Ops soldiers the best in the world who is operated by the US on the behalf of NATO for disenvowment purposes. My G.I.J.O.E. team is way smaller than the one portrayed in the movie to keep the operation covert. The Unit, for now only consists of 2 teams structured like SEAL teams. There are a small number of support Members, and a handful of specialized mission team Members to accomplish misc. objectives. Limited by a budget their assets include mostly experimental vehicles that need real battlefield testing as well as some "surplus" Aircraft.
Cobra is a High Tech terrorist organization that is bent on creating chaos through nefarious operations throughout the world. Whether its supporting up and coming regime's or Totalitarian dictators with weapons or specially trained troops, Cobra is always trying to position themselves within the axis of evil until they control the worlds money, oil, drugs, and energy. The Cobra army is not as large as one might think but they are inbedded into many facets of the world and well funded. Cobra's vehicles are almost limitless as their affiliation with MARS gives them access to new weapons and vehicle technologies. Also their limitless funding comes from deals cut with Dictators and reigning Regimes for Oil Rights, Opium Trade, Precious Minerals, Health Insurance, and other Utilities (Water, Electricity)

I don't a "joeverse" as muh as a universe of my own creation that has Joes, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Doctor Who, Power Rangers, Star Wars, and anything else I can cram in there. It has taken the form of a comic strip named "The Adventures of W. and Raider" (aka TAOWAR) on the Axalon Underground. The W. in the title is George W. Bush, so since the rules say "No Political Discussion" I have (and probably never will) post the comic in whole on Hisstank (It's a good rule, btw). Aside from W being comic relief, there really isn't any politics in it (well, nothing remotely real) and I've been down playing the character until I can write him out.
I make customs for the comics and give more details about the comic in that thread. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...f-customs.html Anyways, the basic plot is as followed: After GI Joe was disbanded in 2003, I, Blade Raider, was asigned to be the President's bodyguard. While searching in the Himalayas, we incounter an evil group named DE-MOS (Darkest Evil - Massive Organization of Sinisterness). Soon enough, it's revealed that DE-MOS is bigger than any villian group ever incounter. Meanwhile, Leader-1 (the GoBot) has gone crazy and taken the White House in order to take revenge on Hasbro for destroying Gobotron. All while our heroes are fighting in a tournament at Botcon 07. And that's a very breif summary for the first season. The comic is on the Axalon Underground's forums if anyone wants to read it, that's all the direction I can give without a mods permission.
