What I liked about Hasbro's design team for ARAH back in the 80's was that often their takes on designs turned out arguably better than the base designs. For example, I LOVE what they did with the X-19, to me, it looks much more beastly than the F-19 concept art at the time, and the later F-117. The Conquest X-30 IMHO looks better than the X-29 except for the canopy(hated how their isn't much rearward visibility, sure their wasn't much on the X-29 either which used an F-5 cockpit, but still...).
I prefer the Tomahawk to the design it was based off of, the Chinook, I mean the Tomahawk looks so much better IMHO and more powerful. The ARAH team had a good premis; kids will buy things that look cool, and the vehicles for the most part did look cool, indeed. |

Such a Plane as the "Aurora", with it's velocity, maneuverability, propulsion, and design specs, would require some pretty impressive composite materials. Operating at such speeds would degrade the structural integrity of the Airframe after each flight. Making turns and other maneuvers at such speeds are deadly for the pilot, and would possibly cause the vehicle to disintegrate with current carbon composites. In this case, I would believe the vehicle "IF" it even exists would be a drone made of some super secret composites, with one hell of a computer.

I am very confident we have an Aurora jet fully in service. Otherwise we could never have retired the Blackbird. Satellites are no replacement for putting eyes above the target at any time in any weather. I'm sure the reason we still don't know much about Aurora is that once word gets out, countermeasures are sure to soon follow (U-2 anyone?). The longer she stays in the shadows, the longer her service life.
