you know I've heard about this thing for years and as cool as it sounds what could we use it for other than scientific research. it's way to fast for human control, computers would have to fly this thing. No one could react in time to handle it. For a bomber you would have to drop your bombs way before the target to even get close to the mark. not to mention what opening bomb bay hatches at those speeds could do to the plane. that's if you could even open hatches with the force of all that air pushing back at them. As for recon we got spy sats for that now. they are also so much cheaper too. they also put the sr-71 out of work. so I don't see what you could use this for other than research. but the concept is cool and I would really love to see it in action.

The Phantom X-19 was actually based on concept art for the F-19. I think the project itself was Have Blue and the end result was actually the F-117 Nighthawk. One F-19 concept artwork showed vertical stabilizers similar to the Phantom X-19, while the more noticeable version featured an overall silhouette that the Phantom X-19 matched more closely. If you find the Testors model or Force One F-19 by Ertl that one is the most similar to the Phantom X-19.
If you guys remember the YF-23 based Resolute Skystriker you should check out the proposed RFB version of the YF-23; high speed stealth bomber, 2 seats, might retain fighter capability. Think of a stealth Strike Eagle replacement with capability possibly surpassing that of the F-111 and based off of the YF-23, and there you have it. |

I actually saw something on the F-117 this morning. The pilots were talking about how the flight plans are programmed on the ground and uploaded into the F-117, they're just there to drop the bombs. They have a point where they make a turn to start their bombing run, one pilot was talking about being along for the ride over Irag watching the AAA and SAMs as he made the turn.

Man that would have to be one heck of a bump at those speeds. I know when landing gear comes down and there is that second of pressure change you get a little kick. That must be one wild ride. I wonder if the Aurora would even have pilots or is it a drone. After all we've had drones as far back as the 70's. Also can it even turn at those speeds? Or would it break up if it tried? That sat photo was of a straight line. Think about it that was one frame and that thing had already went across and then out of the U.S. Lastly isn't the Aurora spozed to be a space plane? Man it's some really cool tech if it's real.

You can kinda see how the X-19 is a combo of both the designs
