My introduction came through my two years older cousin who showed me the coolest toys ever in the flip book from the 82 lineup. Soon after, on vacation in Tennessee, I got my first joe: Short Fuse, who I still have an affinity for. (It was a very rational decision, he came with more and cooler accessories!)

1: Father taking me to Groovies after a particularly grueling judo practice. I didn't really get to own a lot of new toys, but we would frequent used toy stores like the Devil's business. My brother was pretty into GI Joe, I wanted monsters, but something struck me in their boxes of ziplocked bagged-figures. Golobulus, Mindbender, and the Baroness. Father bought me the Baroness figure, who was particularly expensive (ten dollars!) because it reminded him of my mother, and by extension, the first daughter in my family line in six generations ^___^
2. Same thing. After that, I went nuts. 3. Really, the first was the Baroness. Golobulus and Mindbender followed that in the same purchase, but there was something particularly wondrous about me owning my first, non-hand-made toy of a girl. I'll never forget my father's mantra: "Cobra is the valiant freedom force defending humanistic values from the tyranny of GI Joe." 4. Again, the magic of my father's arcane social beliefs. I can't remember the number, it was an early one, but it's the issue that introduces the Crimson Guard. He bought me the comic that has that wondrous Cobra Commander speech: "When the love of money eclipses moral value, WE WIN." 5. Something to do with the Pyramid of Darkness, I caught the miniseries as a child on some morning show in full. My father let me stay home from school that day to watch the whole thing ^__^ Precious. 6. Oh God, yes. I'm still trying to work out a f*ck*ng college thesis on why GI Joe is a penultimate toy line. Actually having the toys, in all their iterations, is necessary for this. 7. Hmm. I was born in '87, so I missed the golden years. But I really do love the 25th line. I didn't even think I could *have* nostalgia at my age! I thought that was supposed to be an older thing. 8. I never counted.... 9. I always kinda had a crush on Stalker from the comics, but his recent 25th counterpart is like a fever dream of goodness. As for the classics, I was always particularly fond of Ripcord's suit and facemask especially, but always kinda disappointed that he was some white dude. 10. The 2nd sculpt for the 25th Baroness was really excellent. It's been years since we've gotten a realistically-proportioned figure of a woman. Just wonderful. As for the classics, the Bio-Viper if he had better articulation. Just adorable~! Other than that, I really liked the aesthetics of Interrogator. Used him as Cobra Commander, frankly. 11. Is the HAVOC the one that ejects a little hovercraft from the back? Big, silly glass canopy, even sillier exposed cannon seat on the top? From the winter sequence in the animated Joe movie? God, I love that one ^___^ 12. I count the Terrordrome as a vehicle, 'cause it could hover in the comics. Greeeeat Cobra UFO ^__^ If that doesn't count, an Arbco moving and storage van made out of some Chap Mei stuff. Big, folds out, has tons of weapons, just perfect. 13. As far as storytelling in the traditional sense, I love the comic. Excellent stuff. But I can't refute the arabesque beauty of the cartoon. Makes no sense, but like the recent movie, perfectly translates the language of play into a visual form. Plus, Cobra Commander's voice... So cute ^__^ 14. Again, I have a real softspot for the Pyramid of Darkness. No episode in particular, but it's so ridiculous as to somehow just work. 15. Massive, unadulterated crush on Stalker for the Joes. While I identify most with the Baroness, you just can't deny Cobra Commander's excellent fashion sense for Cobra. 16. As I said, Cobra is the valiant freedom force defending humanistic values from the tyranny of GI Joe :P~~~ 17. Storm Shadow. He's behind a change that I can believe in. 18. Uuuhhh, Cobra Commander. Serpentor's gilded snake-motif, does not a good fashion sense make. 19. Baroness. Again, change I can believe in 20. I like the aesthetics of Cobra-La as toys, but have yet to read an effective way that they can be integrated into a story.

Marvel #1, got #2 and #3 as well. Still have 'em. 5.First G.I Joe Cartoon Episode? The MASS Device mini-series. A Little Fan Info.. 6.Collect The Toys? Compulsively. 7.In collecting Joe's, what's your favorite year? 1984. 8.How Many G.I. Joes Do You Own? Probably between one and two thousand. 9.Favorite Joe action figure? F*ck GIJOE. I was always in it for COBRA. 10.Favorite Cobra action figure? Destro. Make war AND love. 11.Favorite Joe Vehicle? See #9. 12. Favorite Cobra Vehicle? Rattler. 13.Do you perfer the Cartoon Story Line, the Comic Story line or the movie? (All have had their own point of view on the characters and their history) My own Joe-Verse which combines Hama's Marvel stories and the Sunbow mini-series with my own twists and original stories/characters. 14.Favorite G.I. Joe cartoon episode? Sink The Montana. 15.Favorite G.I. Joe Character? Destro. Choose Your Venom.. 16. Joe Or Cobra? COBRA. We now stand ready to RULE THE WORLD!!! 17. Snake eyes Or StormShadow? Snake Eyes. 18. Cobra Commander or Serpentor? COBRA Commander. 19. Scarlett or Baroness? Scarlett (I must represent for my Southern belles). 20. Last But Not Least..Do you Believe in Cobra La? Yes. They have a chapter in my Joe-Verse. Their proper name is Khabrala. "Cobra-La" is the GIJOE joke of their name. GIJOE exterminates them. They enter the story in 1987 after Serpentor has hired Firefly to dress up like Snake-Eyes to assassinate COBRA Commander. CC is in a coma recuperating (unbeknownst to Serpentor) while Serpentor "remembers" the existence of the Khabrala in Alexander the Great's memories. He remembers a race of subterranean snake people with a legend that a "serpent god" will lead them out of darkness. He decides to masquerade as this god in order to obtain the bio-technology possessed by the Khabrala. His plan succeeds, not because he fools them, but because Golobulus the high priest has been wanting to wage war on humanity for a long time and agrees to support Serpentor's claim that he is the serpent god. To do so, he must overcome Nemesis Enforcer in single combat. Nemesis Enforcer is actually Golobulus's son who tried to overthrow Golobulus years ago and received a lobotomy and a permanent position as Golobulus's hatchet man in return. Golobulus has NE throw the fight so the Khabrala will follow Serpentor and COBRA. The Khabrala and COBRA learn of the BET and conspire to steal it, not to mutate humanity with spores but to awaken titanic monsters sleeping beneath the Earth that will help the Khabrala conquer the world. They nearly succeed in this but are stopped by GIJOE. Sergeant Slaughter defeats Nemesis Enforcer and hurls him into an abyss and Snake-Eyes cuts off Golobulus's head. The BET is overloaded by Falcon and explodes, causing Khabrala to collapse upon itself and bury the one-quarter energized monsters and the Khabrala race is wiped out. Serpentor and the COBRAs escape along with Pythona, the last survivor of the Khabrala, who for a time becomes Serpentor's lover and Empress until she is killed later in the COBRA Civil War when COBRA Commander returns to reclaim his authority.
