After Sigma 6 re-sparked my interest in GI Joes after getting out of it for some 15 years, and then my shock on how cool the first 25th Anniversary Joe pack was (I only bought it for Snake Eyes, and really liked the rest), and I guess about a year or so of scouring Ebay and the 3 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 1 Toys R Us, and a K-Mart looking for toys that only a couple of years before I thought I had zero interest in. The 'hunt' for each wave of 25th Anniversary figs became a way of life for me, and I must have made trips 3 times a week checking out all of the stores around me. Then Resolute came out. . .
But then something started happening. Hasbro's quality control really started pissing me off, and I didn't think most of the figures in the later waves were near anything of the quality of the earlier ones, and I just lost interest in looking for the perfect version of the figure I wanted (without cross or wandering eyes, sloppy paint jobs, etc). And to be honest, I am totally a 83-85 guy. I could really careless about GI Joe after that, and since I didn't keep up with it, had to do research to find out what Valor vs Venom was, or GI Joe extreme or even Wraith. But it all was fun for awhile, but once I picked up Zap from Ebay from someone in Hong Kong, it completed my original 13 (along with a custom Short Fuze using Zap parts), and kind of sealed my interest. I ended up dumping everything but the re-designs from the 83-85 era. Except my sweet collection of 2.5 Sigma 6 collection. I have everything and like them alot. In addition, I've been scrounging Ebay collecting bits and pieces to finish off my ARAH original 13, collector cases and all. Have done a stellar job, I consider it my finest work lol, considering the great condition it all is in (yes it cost me $$$). I even picked up a bunch of old Action Force Red Shadow stuff. I dissed it as a kid, especially the GI Joe knock-offs, but I love the Red Shadows today, so I got everything to do with them from Ebay. I am like in kid heaven, time-warped back into 84 re-imaging the battles in my room. Good times, only I can barely hold any figure in my hand for longer than 2 minutes. I just dont have that much imagination anymore. I drop about $100 at Walmart the second the ROC figures hit the shelves. I am pretty impressed with the quality, but not so much the designs. Then I see the movie; too over-the-top for me (I know GI Joe is over-the-top, but in my world, its not so much). Its GI Joe for sure, just not MY GI Joe. And I am cool with that. I hope I see the Resolute figures in stores some day, but I don't need ROC (but it is good that its there as opposed to GI Joe Extreme or VvV). I've gone back to a few stores checking for new arrivals, but just aren't interested in the repaints and newer designs. The quality is amazing. I wish my 25th ones looked as great as them. But I think I am finally done with collecting GI Joe. . . which is crazy for all the work I put into it the last year or so. And to be honest there is a little void. I don't have anything else driving me to obsess over something lol. If ROC was different, maybe I would be collecting it, and I don't want to say it ruined things for me, but it didn't capture or hold on to my interest as ARAH or Sigma 6 did. Toy-wise I mean. And I was wondering if you guys felt the same. PS (holding out for Resolute thought) |

Well, I can say this, as far as collecting goes, I collect many lines, G.I. Joe and Transformers used to be two of them, I spent about 1500 dollars on Joe product between 07-and-09, and about 1500 on Trans product between the two movies, maybe a bit more cause I buy the Masterpiece line. I have zero interest in about 95% of the Joe movie toys, and 100% zero interest in revenge of the Fallen toys. The kid in me wishes there would be at least something I want, but I look at it, and see something I can't relate to, because it's not what I know. Maybe I'm stuck in the past, that's fine if people who support new and "improved" want to say that to me. I love updates, but not complete re-do's. New MOTUC =Awesome, Transformers Masterpiece= . . . Well Masterpieces, G.I. Joe Modern/Resolute/25th= Works of Art, Roc= something akin to a Britney spears song, ROTF= an egotists vision. Sorry but I can't bring myself to buy it, not with all the money I need for other stuff.
So in answer to your question, I am kinda bummed that there's nothing to fill my Trans and Joe void, but the times change and you could either sit around hating it, or find some other line to occupy your interest, like me. Those damn MOTU figs are not cheap. 26 dollars including shipping and sales tax!!! Ouch! |

If it's an action figure line from the 80's people are collecting it, no matter how obscure. Heck ever heard of Eagle Force by Mego I collect those

yah know i don't feel all the same but i've have come to stop buying the new figures and i am just sticking to the old ones and keep army building.i even have just sold most of my 25th figures on ebay.i have kept the vehicles though.the 25th figures are cool, but i just lost interset in them.i thought that they were going to redue all the the figures but they didn't.plus my son likes the 1982-1992 figures, and he's only 6.but he does like the roc figures, and that is because of the movie and he loves baroness, scarlett, snake eyes and storm shadow, and the original dusty, snake eyes, beachhead, and the whole tiger force crew.we're playing everday with the joe's.plus it's hard to keep up with all the loose accessories to the 25th line.i'm just army building the original bats, vipers, soldiers, crimson guards, and officers, valor vs venom 6packs.

I love the new figures. I'm having a hard time getting into gettng any of the 25th stuff I missed.
I have most of it already, in it's original form (and sometimes better form... Hit & Run, I'm pointing at you...). I love the quality of the RoC stuff, hands down better then most of the 25th. Some of the new designs aren't that great, but I'm eagerly awaiting the Pursuit of Cobra stuff next years as all of that just looks bad-ass.

I have been pleasantly surprised at how nice the ROC stuff is. I hated nearly everything when I 1st saw pics but a lot of the figures are pretty cool when seen in person.
