A testament to how superb Larry Hama's writing is Kwinn, who is perhaps the most popular obscure character in the G.I. JOE mythos.

When we first encounter Kwinn he's on assignment for the Russians in #2 of the Marvel run of G.I. JOE. We later see Kwinn in Sierra Gordo when he's working for COBRA and he's paired with Dr. Venom. Kwinn has two distant looks he's sporting in his appearances in G.I. JOE.


This is Tracker Kwinn in a parka, pants, winter boots, gloves, goggles, a bandolier for extra ammo and his signature M1919 and a weasel skull necklace.


Kwinn was made from reuse of BIG BEN and notably absent from Kwinn is his weasel skull necklace.


However, Tracker Kwinn did come with an animal companion that I'm assuming is a reuse of ORDER.


Here we have Kwinn in what is arguably his most iconic look which is a khaki short set or as flashtronaut8 has dubbed him "Higgins Kwinn." So named because of the khaki short set that Higgins wore on Magnum P.I.




The good part is Higgins Kwinn came with a gang of accessories, (17 to be exact,) including Kwinn's signature pieces, (i.e. his weasel skull necklace, his .30 cal with a tripod and ammo,) and a bunch of other pieces.

The bad part is this is a horrible representation of Kwinn. I'll give them a pass on not getting Kwinn's physique right, but yo, this shit just looks bad, bruh. I'm not feelin' that torso cut and the portrait is fuckin' hideous. Instead of countenance conveys power, strength, and honor, they've got my man Kwinn lookin' like a dope fiend who needs to cop before withdrawals set in.

With Artic Kwinn I'm assuming that the entire figure would be new tooling, especially if they made him true to his height which would make him the same height and build as ROAD PIG. A bonus with an Artic Kwinn figure is there's the option to give him an animal companion. Being that they're roughly the same size, Artic Kwinn can come in a two pack with a malamute using the ORDER buck.

Higgins Kwinn could use the ROAD PIG buck, (I think,) assuming of course his shirt and shorts doesn't need to be new. Though not desirable the RB buck could used though Kwinn would be undersized and not have the proper build. I picture Kwinn being a chunky dude.

So what do you guys think? Which version of Kwinn do you want see first in Classified? Should Kwinn be released as a solo figure or in a two pack with DR. VENOM, in a three pack with DR. VENOM and SCAR-FACE or with a malamute animal companion, and should Kwinn be new or should he be reuse of ROAD PIG?

Safari Kwinn I never even realized was a thing. Always associated the character with his Indigenous Peoples look. Definitely want Indigenous Kwinn first, though. Just like Super7 did in ReAction.

Despite being a fan of Magnum PI, that Kwinn immediately makes me think of Robert Muldoon.

That three-pack ("regular" Kwinn, Scarface, and Dr. V) I would buy sight unseen. Would love that. Really deep cut outside of a group like this, though, and so far we've not gotten a ton of signs they're going to focus on comic book Joe over TV Joe.

I would definitely be in for Arctic Kwinn but if I had to pick one I'd pick Safari K.

Re-use of Roadpig is a good idea, but it doesn't look like there is much that can be repurposed. Lenny spent a lot of time with special kneepads, lower legs, thighs, and crotch that have a lot of molded details and not just overlays.



The arctic costume seems to have an advantage that you cut do a rubber overlay for the parka and may just get away with brown arms with no wrinkles. Maybe the fingerglass glove hands, but fully brown and hope no one notices? The crotch, top of the thigh, knees, and lower legs all would need to be replaced to get rid of the chaps and Road Warrior-boots. And new head. Looks like the main thigh and just below the knee above the boot cut is sufficiently generic wrinkles that it would work for pants.

Safari Kwinn could have an overlay shirt, but not sure if that would look very good. Seems like you'd want a new chest and torso as well as shoulders to to simulate the shirt with pockets and short-sleeves. And then I don't think there is anything from the waist down that could be re-used for the Safari look.

I will happily take either one, but the Arctic look seems like fewer unique pieces which could be the deciding factor. Love the idea of him getting a sled and one dog or something to round him out.

And Kwinn's machine gun is a smaller .30-calibre model and not a "Ma Deuce" .50-calibre weapon. Probably a Browning M1919 and not the big M2 (aka Ma Deuce).

We should get a 2 pack with both looks. If I had to pick just one, it's safari Kwinn. He was in a lot of issues with that look, and just one with the parka.

And his weapon of choice is the belt-fed, air cooled .30 caliber machine-gun. They need to finally get that right with a figure.

Ditto the gun. I want 100% new parts, designed to work together, both looks...and though I hope Classified fans get them, I want them in ReAction+!
