I don't think Leatherneck gets enough love.
Shout it out for Wendell A. Metzger. ![]()

I never cared much for the character or figure as a kid. He seemed a bit superfluous since Gung Ho was also a white marine with a mustache and a similar hat. But I appreciate how the cartoon used him to play up the rivalry with the Navy.

His filecard was hilarious. his gun was so cool, many movies of that time featured the same weapon. His rivalry with wet-Suit was fun to watch. I also liked how his comic appearances stayed true to his filecard character; one mean SOB!
A good, solid, realistic figure. His card art is memorable too, guy has an intense stare. |

I loved that gun. It was one of my go to guns during playtime... until I got PP Copperhead. Same gun, but in black.

The Hama comics were the best depiction of Leatherneck. I didn't like how he and Gung Ho were presented in the cartoon. As for the figure, I think Leatherneck had one of the coolest designs among the 2.0 characters and I like that he was a tribute to Ron Rudat.
Somewhat connected, this Ron Rudat interview on YoJoe.com was interesting.
