You asked and my opinion isn’t good enough for you? Maybe you should consider that people are allowed to have ideas that aren’t the same as yours? But fine, here’s a theory, Zandar hates his sister and he needed a scarf. He decided to tear up Zarana’s favorite shirt and now she doesn’t speak to him. The scarf is a constant reminder to Zandar of how he finally got Zarana to shut up.
