Issue 7 was my first comic book as well. The shot shortly after lineup where those two Cobras get blown away by the VAMP cannon told me that this was an entirely different thing than I had been seeing beforehand (in a great way). That was iconic to me.

Iconic is so subjective, but the most iconic comic image for me is the cover of issue 24. It was not only my entry into the world of GI Joe, but the very first comic book I ever bought. I probably read over 100 times as a child and shortly thereafter I bought my first two Joe action figures, Torpedo and Major Bludd.

On the cartoon side, Satin, Snake Eyes, Shipwreck and Timber, will always be one of the most iconic scenes, despite there being so many iconic moments in the cartoon.

Hopefully the images come through, I don't typically do pics.

i know i shared a picture of chuckles punching crocmaster in his stupid face on page 2 or 3. which is my favorite picture of my favorite gijoe.

but this whole issue is full of images that i just totally see in my minds eye. i dont know why i got them, and the next two issues im posting for xmas one year as a kid (i wasnt really a comic collector because they were so expensive and i could never keep up with them like i have been able to as an adult. if hte gas station down the street didnt have it when i had a couple of bucks; i didnt get it. essentially getting a comic as a kid was so rare that i can remember the moment i got all the ones i had as a kid.) i just noticed they were so far apart in releases; so it really makes no sense how i got them all at once (my parents did not go to comic stores if i wasnt with them also, how it was so difficult to collect comics.)

anyway. straight up banger pictures and story bits of firefly all over the place here.

i cant even have my picture taken without thinking of the faceless master. just wiggling his head a lot before the picture is taken so it's distorted on it; and then he does it in "real life" when he reveals himself as the faceless master.

adn then just this cover:

(i dont care about the fred stuff which is why i cant recall this issue other than the cover)

and this issue i can pull images in my head if i try hard enough. not sure that im into an 18 year old being on the joe team. but hey, mangler did it. outback was more "tough" than dusty was on the cover of this but dusty was the one that got them all through the desert alive, except mangler. because he was leroy jenkins.

Speaking of Special Missions, the first issue had a very iconic cover to me as a kid:

Though Mike Zeck's work in general is iconic.

And going back to the cartoon, in addition to the credits, I think the '85 intro as a whole was incredibly iconic.

And who can forget Duke with the wacky facial hair and eyeglasses from the Revenge of Cobra?
