Thanks to Total Toy Books reprinting the original Action Force series, I felt I had pretty much capped off my GI*Joe/Action Force comic collection. Then, I got to thinking about the Blackthorne books that were published in the late 80s. When they were released, I had eschewed them as they were non-Hama/non-Marvel iterations, and thus non-canon in my book. That and they were quite a bit more expensive than a standard Marvel/DC book back then - kinda hard to justify for a kid on an allowance.
Did anyone here ever read them? Are they worth going rate on eBay? I was going to resurrect this necrothread, but alas comments are closed. Haha! https://www.hisstank.com/forum/comic...c-archive.html |

My brother had the 1st issue, so I've read it but it's been a minute. Best as I can recall, it was both really goofy and quite violent. There was some plot thread about a Cobra super-serum, and a whole bunch of Cobra troops get slaughtered only for the serum to keep their remains active. That's about all I remember. I hope that helps.

I have a bunch of them but can't remember the stories. The 3d is more of a gimmick and the comic is a vehicle for that, more than it being a deep story.

I was just wondering if anyone had strong opinions one way or another. |

Thanks for the replies! Based on your comments and some online opinions about the artwork, I may leave this corner of Joe comics alone for the time being. I'm getting the impression it's kind of on-par with the Club comics. Would that be accurate?
I was just wondering if anyone had strong opinions one way or another. I've never read the club comics, so I can't really help you there. |
