I think, for me, it would be the '83-'85 figs, and the '82 vehicles. Maybe a HISS and Stinger and Ferret, too, if I could keep them.
If I had to whittle down the figs, I could probably live with just Flint, Lady Jaye, Shipwreck and SE from '85, Baroness, Firefly, Roadblock and Storm Shadow from '84, and Destro, Gung Ho, and Duke from '83. But I think I'd want all of the original team, in their swivel-arm versions.

I appreciate the input, gang. It's cool how we each have our own preferences/priorities/whatever when it comes to this. I've decided to make it easier on myself and I've limited my Joe shit to one moderately-sized tote. That forced me into tough-ish decisions, like getting rid of some 25th vehicles. So long Firebat, SHARC, HISSes, Water Moc and AWE! It's funny, but while nostalgia (and just the cool factor) makes me love the more vintage look of the Walmart Retro vehicle packaging, I've always appreciated the 25th vehicles window boxes. It's a ready-made way of storing or displaying fully assembled and stickered up vehicles that keeps them relatively dust-free and doesn't take up too much extra space. The traditional/vintage/retro style packaing looks amazing, but once you assemble the vehicles, the box becomes useless and just another thing taking up space.

I read that as if I down size as get rid of the majority of my collection what would I keep? Hence my answer Oring . As they reign supreme and always will imo. You read his post as that of a completionist. Which is cool. Not right or wrong, so not sure why you quoted my opinion As most answered the same way I did lol. But to entertain your post, I just buy what I like man. I might complete every version of firefly but not every year of o ring, or I might get every year of 85 but not 86. I just buy what I thinks cool bro. Not that deep or OCD for me Quote:
I'm pretty confident I could get it down to 24 if I really wanted/needed to. They would probably be the last *anything* collectable I would try to keep. Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
Yeah, I love the Classified scale and the extra detail that we have now, but at the end of the day the o-rings are still where it's at.

What a fun thing to contemplate.
So if someone mean came to my house and said I could only keep one thing, I'd want the CC collection. When he responds with "but that's more than one thing," I'll draw him into a debate over what actually constitutes "one thing" and use the power of frustration to send this vile hypothetical toy stealing individual away empty handed. But, yeah, I'd have to keep the CCs. I worked hard to build that collection. But wait I could never get rid of my Ghostbusters firehouse I've had it since I was a kid..... ....and the Batcave and Batmobile I got from Santa.... ...and... Noooooooo. My brain has short circuited. Curse the cruelty of this question.

i could probably swindle my way into keeping my original ghostbusters, motu, and super powers by putting them at my parents house or gifting them to my son. |

i didnt think about these two things. but as a technicality, i do/did use each of these things for my 4" action figures and they fit in the "getting rid of everything but my 4" scale stuff" stipulation in my earlier comment.

I think your way of interpreting his post and mine differentiate.

Bare minimum? I need to start on that saga soon. I’ve spent more than I should have on Joy Toy and other items like a Unimax 1/18 Bradley I recently got from eBay. I don’t collect the GI Joe line for any of the nostalgia of the 1982-present days as many of you guys do. I do collect GI Joe items that I can fit into my 1/18 (3.75-4 inch) world based loosely on the modern day military, loosely being the key word. I have world peacekeepers and everything 1/18 you can imagine and at some point I have to hit the stop button and take inventory. Oh me!

The nice thing about o-ring Joes is that if they are all displayed on a shelf (or multiple shelves), it'd be rather easy just to grab a bin and just sweep them all into it with your arm, if you had to get out of there in a hurry!
