Do you have any ideas? I have one . What would happened if the glaciers melted in the Joe universe like it did in that movie, Waterworld? Would Cobra take over?
Maybe have a series, or movie, or comic where Cobra did?

I think the best idea for a GI Joe movie would be to make it something a bit like the A-Team, Starsky and Hutch, or Dukes of Hazzard movies - a tongue-in-cheek, fun, action-comedy.
Have it set in the '80s, and go all in with that (e.g. '80s references/jokes/themes). Like, a somewhat more serious (and family-friendly) Team America: World Police. A little more classic James Bond in tone, though. Made with the same love that the guys on Community had for the GI Joe episode, you know what I mean? More like the LEGO and Barbie movies, in concept, than Transformers, but still with plenty of action.

I don't see how the glaciers melting would suddenly mean Cobra takes over. If anything, it would mean Cobra Island goes back underwater.

I have a pitch for a story. It is something that would make classic fans very happy while still bringing something new to the mythos. I suspect if I did it right, it would be the greatest G.I. Joe story ever written. I’m saving it so that I can pitch it someday.

Whatever you do, make it a TV series. Historically, G.i. Joe fiction does best in a serialized format.

Make Gi Joe more a specialized Rescue Team (no longer a part of the military). Like the Thunderbirds. Getting back to the earlier Action Team Joe idea but with a large team. Keep all the main characters. Give then cool new vehicles with winches, drills, mech suits, etc...again like thunderbirds. They could still have weapons for defense against Cobra, Monsters, etc. Cobra could still be bent on causing mayhem, stealing resources, disrupting day to day life.

If you're doing a movie, do it with a small group of Joes based around one mission and one-and-done it. Stop trying to set up sixty seven cinematic universes. Do stuff like Special Missions, like Ambush where it's a team dropped off to ambush a convoy, it goes tits up, they finish the job any way and that's it. Next one, make it, I dunno, like Top Gun Maverick or something with the pilots doing an air op. Third one, it's a hostage rescue thing with another group of Joes. Maybe one or two from the prior movie, but mostly new.

Marvel was successful when their characters looked like their comic book counterparts and fan-favorite story-lines were utilized. Transformers only survived because it was unique for movies and people like transforming robots even though they looked nothing like their G1 versions, the familiar story-lines were used but changed, but now film revenue is starting to decline. They've made Optimus Prime look like his original G1 version but everyone else is still "in name only". However, the story-lines are on rinse and repeat. An artifact exists for power and causes a mad-cap global chase where a human tags along with the Autobots.
Hasbro keeps making something "new" and slapping the Gi Joe name on it and they keep failing. Classified was "re-imagined" and only succeeded when they went to updated ARAH versions of Gi Joe Characters. I would be very surprised to see something that can get new fans engaged and please fans that grew up with the comic book and ARAH cartoons. Funny thing... Movie about ex-military guy who uses guns and swords that is disfigured written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (writers of Gi Joe Retaliation)...Snake-Eyes? Nope, Deadpool. If you color the Red suit all black and then give the visor head, you have the basic Snake-Eyes costume which is better than anything I've seen in Rise of Cobra, Retaliation,or Snake-Eyes:Gi Joe Origins, I used AI to re-color the Deadpool costume and it looked great.
