What's the history behind this special unit, why was is not included in the cartoon and are certain charectors exaulted in the unit...

What do you mean by "exalted?"

Obviously Tiger Force in the real world existed to create a fun reason to reuse existing molds and let kids collect figures they had missed out on previously. Some of my favorite figures in the line were from slightly before my time such as Slaughter's Marauders Spirit, Python Patrol Crimson Guard and Python Patrol Viper.

Tiger Force to me is a jungle combat set of fatigues. In this viewpoint the majority of GiJoe members would have specialized Tiger Force gear to wear on certain missions.

There is also the obvious parallel of Tiger Force and Python Patrol. But where Python Patrol is meant to be an invisible, radar-proof unit which can sneak in undetected, Tiger Force doesn't seem to have a similar function. They are not radar invisible as far as we have been told. Also they do seem to have any special technology to uncover or view Python Patrol agents.

No. The figures were not exalted in their abilities. Now, the Modern Era Tiger Force figures from the club (Joecon and FSS) have exalted prices!!!

Are you looking for a "canon" storytelling explanation, or a real-world business explanation?

The latter is that Tiger Force and Python Patrol were a way for Hasbro to get some extra use out of old molds that otherwise were gathering dust. It also allowed younger kids and newer collectors the opportunity to buy slightly different versions of popular figures that had been out of circulation for a while, in case they missed them the first time.

To answer that question, consider that the Tiger Force product line was created in 1987 (and appeared at retail in 1988), one year after the Sunbow animated cartoon series ended, and one year before the start of the DIC animated cartoon series. Other than the brief animated segments at the start of each toy commercial, there wasn't any cartoon episode coverage for these products as you have already noticed.

Wow, I didn't know this. That makes sense of the timing for the creation of the subgroup as well. The timing works both ways
