but again, the blueprints say ASM weapon mounts. Even looking at the back of the box on Yo Joe, it's saying air-to-surface missiles... The drone is labelled as "fighter/interceptor attack drone", so that's confusing...

But making the Hurricane the one Cobra aircraft with a blueprint-designated interception function. ;^)

In my head-canon, the Firebat has missiles, along with aerial mines and anti-armor bombs. I think of it as the primary air defense for Cobra island, along with Stinger jeeps and ASP guns along the beach.
The Stingers and ASP pods can also fire on incoming naval landing craft or anything that lands on the beach. Strafing Rattlers take it from there. Anything that makes it to shore is scrap. Cobra also has RPG troops, Scrap-Iron's anti-armor systems, Vipers with HEAT grenade launchers, etc. Yeah I get bored at work and think about this lol. It annoyed me that Cobra never had a dedicated air superiority fighter until the Hurricane, but that was way too late, and I never liked it. So I just imagine that Cobra focused on air and beach defense, and had some support from space satellite weapons, Ravens, and stolen "Pythonized" Conquests, etc. Last edited by Cobra Agent 66; 09-17-2023 at 02:00 PM.. I think you need to consider the difference between blue water, brown water, coastal defense and swamp vehicles.
The BUGG and Hammerhead are basically dedicated coastal defenders. They can't project force any significant distance because they drive on the coastal shelf and beach. Swap vehicles (Water Moccasin, Swamp Skier, et al) are not really naval vehicles in any meaningful sense. Most of the rest of their vehicles are brownwater at best. They need to be transported into riverine combat environments and dropped off. The Joes, otoh, have a lot of capabilities to force project across the ocean and gain quick air and water dominance with the Flagg and entire wings of Sharcs. |

I wouldn't pay too much attention to blue prints, especially later ones.
Liquidator is based on an interceptor, that's what it is. The Storm Eagle's blue prints say the same about it's missiles. Bugg is a sub in its own right, albeit, not a deep water one. But the engines on the side are more than just for driving on the bottom. Rocket Sled as a water vehicle? I just remember Voltar on the card art trying to kill himself. |

Most of their vehicles aren't ocean worthy which seems like an issue, given GI Joe has an aircraft carrier and personal submarines.
I presume their main naval force is Morays. Hammerhead is a coastal vehicle (but has three personal armed subs on it) and the BUGG seems deep water, so that seems more than enough to keep Cobra Island safe from Invasion. |

Well Major Blood at some point in his military service must have read " The influence of Sea power upon history" by Alfred Thayer Mahan and when cobra was organizing included strong naval forces in thier doctrine

You're forgetting several GI Joe vehicles.
The Barracuda sub, the Warthog (it's an amphibious landing vehicle), the two Tiger Force boats (devilfish and water moccasin), the Night Force Moray and arguably the APC (it floats). Those would seem to balance them out. |
