I quite like the Persuader. The reasons why are pretty personal, and I will admit that neither it nor Backstop are "good" Joe toys, but I like it, all the same.

I had it and yeah - it wasn't my favorite. The lack of treads was odd to kid-me, but my biggest issue with the Persuader was the weird way the main gun attached to the turret. The whole thing just looked a bit awkward.

My children enjoyed their Persuader, and played with it often. The missiles became a problem, often having missile tabs break off during use.

It's been nearly 40 years and it still hasn't persuaded me to like it.

Never had one of these, and it was never really on my radar. As an adult, I do actually kind of like it. It's fairly sensible by Joe standards and pleasantly straightforward. It's probably better utilized as self-propelled artillery or a tank destroyer than as a tank per se.

I liked it BECAUSE it was so ugly- like as a kid it was so drastically different from all the realistic looking tanks and vehicles I was drawn to it. As an adult...man that thing is ugly and beautiful lol.

I loved it lol. I didn't get it though, until I think it was the summer of 1989 and on clearance at Hill's Department Store. Although at the time I didn't know what they were, but on TV I had seen some Marine Corps LAV-25s and thought they looked like the Persuader. That made me like it more.
Although the guns on the Persuader I thought looked like some of those old 60's or 70's laser cannons from the Godzilla movies. I use to take the antenna from something, maybe the Desert Fox. and stuck in one of the holes on the back of the Persuader. But I always hated how the missiles attached to it. |

Never had any interest in it as a GI Joe vehicle but I did customise a beat up one for my "Mad Max" display as a ramming vehicle.
Got rid of the horrible oversized weapons, and thought the missile tabs would work better as steps up to the turret.

Oddly, I randomly have the main cannon for it but don't recall ever actually OWNING it.
Even as a kid I remember seeing it in the catalog and going "Between the land mine probe and two big cannons right over his head, the driver is toast". I have no idea why but I preferred Battle Force 2000 vehicles. Probably because they were widely available? |
