1984, for me. I remember how excited I was when I got that figure. He was my favourite character for several years, before his o-ring broke and I moved on to v2. I just liked his look and loadout and, although I did like the v2 look and accessories as well, v1 was just a little better. By the time v3 came out, I wasn't playing with toys anymore. I did buy him, but just put him on my desk, along with other figures I had displayed, and left him. In retrospect, I should've left him in the package. Oh well.

V1 for me. I had aged out of Joes by the time V2 came around. Plus his look was spot on for the Ninja craze at that time!!!
I lost count on how many times he landed a roundhouse kick on SE or Joes!!!

v1 was an instant classic. Simple, clean, and a stand-out.

V1 1984. It’s the most intimidating/fierce look for SS, and the one I fell in love with so many years ago in the comics.

1988 figure is my favorite action figure of all-time, but 1984 wins the award for best card art!

I can't decide.
Storm Shadow is my favorite character. He essentially IS the GI Joe franchise for me. The 1984 figure is one of the greatest action figures ever made, but the 1988 figure is so fucking cool, too. It blew my damn mind as a kid that my favorite bad guy got a cool new updated outfit and then went and joined the good guys!! Can't I have them both?? Don't make me choose! |

PS...that's the 2007 card art, not the 1988 card art. 1988 is better!
The Sunbow model sheet is pretty dope, too. |

84.
Only one I ever had. He was just an awesome figure with an awesome name. And maybe the only cobra that gives any joes reason to pause. I wanted him for Christmas, didn't get him on Christmas morning, had to hide my disappointment, then my aunt brought him over later in the day when she came over for dinner. Made me appreciate him that much more. Then we moved, and i lost his backpack/weapons in the move. Again, so disappointed, but then found the backpack jammed up in the hydrofoil like 6 months later. So many adventures. Last edited by GI FLINT; 07-15-2023 at 11:40 PM.. |
