Apologies if this is the wrong forum. Looking for some selling advice
Time for me to part with my collection -- but I have no idea the work that goes in to selling a collection. Ideally I'd like to sell as a lot; mostly everything is loose with a few MOC/MIB items. Lots of vehicles and figs from 85-94, along with a '94 Manimal. The task seems pretty daunting which is why I've never explored selling in the past. What kind of work really goes in to selling a collection? Should I -- Catalog everything? Dig through bin of accessories and match everything? Find someone local here in Toronto to come in and have a look/make an offer? I work 80+ hours a week and the collection is a few hours away from my residence so trying to min/max my time and effort to make this as painless for me and prospective buyers as possible. Any thoughts and/or resources appreciated! |

Hi,
You’ll make the most of you sell it piece by piece somewhere like EBay. Complete is best(better if you have file card, blueprints and instructions). It is also the most time and trouble. You could take pics and show it here. I think there’s a buy/sell forum here. Lots of collectors. You’ll get a reasonable offer, but not full “market” value. You could even post grouping of figures and gear to show what you have. Lots on EBay are quick, but most are looking for a deal so you will get less if you sell as a lot. Having someone sell or auction for you is an option, but they will obviously want a cut. So it depends on your priorities. Money? Time? Getting it to someone who’ll love it? You’ll find people who know about and love the ARAH joes here. I have an extensive 12” Joe collection and ARAH collection that I have been selling over time. I’ve made some money, but it is slow going. Last edited by probilio; 07-01-2023 at 01:42 PM.. |

To add to "try selling it here", I'm always in n the market for CGs, Vipers, BAT V2s, and Alley Vipers V1 and 2s, and I have a few of the HTF drivers left on my list to finish the OG run.
Depending on what you've got and what you're asking, I'd be interested in working something out, feel free to send a PM.

An actual 1994 Manimal, not the 2000's Kay-Bee versions, is something perhaps best appraised (not by AFA) and sold at an appropriate venue.

I don't sell thing myself but have seen lots of suggestions from people here that do, I concur with the others you should piece them out instead of selling lots, further, I highly suggest you try to find time to document some of it because it's going to be tougher to sell if you don't own know what's in your collection

I would go through, catalog and document everything. Also try to pair all the figures and vehicles with the correct accessories and parts. You will get the most money that way.
If you sell on ebay you will have to consider the selling fees. If you sell on Craigslist, facebook marketplace, Hisstank etc. you can avoid those fees. |

Ok... I was out of the toy game in 1994... what the hell is a Manimal? When I Google it, all I get is the TV show.
