So I started to do research on which real life unit to model my Vipers after. I watched a YouTube video on the Rangers and I discovered that some of the Rangers get a Combat Dive Qualification. This got me thinking which of the JOEs are combat divers, so excluding the sailors, off the top of my head I would say Stalker, Beach Head, Lt. Falcon, G.H., Recondo, Muskrat, the O.G. 13, (excluding Steeler,) Footloose, Rapid Fire, Outback, and Quick Kick. Would it make sense for the snipers to be combat divers?

I doubt that many are dive qualified. Snake Eyes per his fiecard. Falcon, Duke, Flint, all possible as Green Berets. the SEALs - Wet Suit, Tracker, Torpedo, plus Shipwreck after V2. Deep Six also. Plus later SEALs, Wet Down, Night Fox and Ice Storm, ISTR he was a SEAL.

Having some Green Berets trained in combat diving could meet this requirement, but already having over half a dozen Navy SEALs on the G.I. Joe team far exceeds whatever training and qualification needs an Army Special Forces team would have.

ARAH #1 shows Breaker underwater in the introductory panels when Hawk arrives at The PIT and finds the team training, so there's some merit that the Joes exceed their primary/secondary specialties.

Possible, OC, but maybe he's just into relaxing in a neutral buoyancy environment!

Makes sense, but Sunbow showed a variety of Joes being pilots. Not a stretch to think they'd be divers too. What about the MASS Device episode where they fight the tube worms? Those Joes/Cobras are obviously combat divers.

It's a Bacta Tank.
Why would you think Recondo, Muskrat, Footloose, Rapid Fire, Outback, and Quick Kick would be combat dive qualified? That said, with so many SEALs in the Joe team, even if someone is dive qualified, I hardly think they'll need to be called on for anything*. That's like calling Batman to a water crisis, Aquaman be like "hey, that's like my only job!" * except for large scale underwater operations...I'm trying to forget the climactic scene of Rise of Cobra. |
