I would think basements would be possible in Florida, as there are large buildings... not NYC-style skyscrapers, mind you, but the tallest building in Florida is a 1000+ foot skyscraper in Miami and in order to build something like that, you need to dig deeper than 6 feet to set the foundation.
If you can do that to build a skyscraper, surely you can build a basement?

Nice. That alone is reason not to have a basement. He would make a great Mindbender, though.
I guess they were content with Disney, JLo, NASA, and Burt Reynolds' orange groves. |

Fun fact
Disney has a gigantic tunnel system running under it for the workers. It was actually built at ground level though due to the water table, not dug. Everything you see at Disney is on the second story. I think the castle is actually at what would be third floor height.

They do. But theirs only are under a section of Tomorrowland and I think New Orleans Square and are not as advanced and don't connect like WDW's are. Basically just glorified tunnels.

BUT. im as smack dab in the middle of flawduh as you can get. I know a guy and have been in his house and inside his basement. I can even provide an address because i didnt believe he had one until i saw for myself. It was turned into his older sister's room. Strangely enough it's also near a lake and is an old house. Not even sure how that's possible. But I was there. So there are basements here. Just suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper rare and very likely in the center most parts of the state. Rare enough for natives to not believe it's possible because of the water table. Shit. Sinkholes even are a thing, because i bet if you disturb just the right spot when making a basement or a in ground shelter you can open up a hole straight down to who knows where. Sinkholes happen all the time just because this state decided to make someone's day a bad one. Also attics here are super hot too. I installed a box fan in my garage ceiling so that i can turn it to blow into my attic while im up there. Nit that it helps a whole lot being that garages here are also stupid hot. Kind of a no win situation. |
