Glad to know it wasn't just me that saw Leto's Joker as Jason. As for Eddie, he'd have been an awesome antagonist for West's Batman. Though I would've given him the Riddler, even including his trans aspect, to complement his whit. A shame that was before his time.
'90's Superman was a rough time. But, I'll add that I used to love to draw the panels from any comics I could get my hands on back then. |

It doesn't matter now, but I think that Leto's Joker's bizarre appearance (brows, tats, scars, teeth) were to hide the abuse that the real Joker caused or to hide his true face (of a hero) and Batman knocked his teeth out when he caught up to him. Good thoughts on EI & canon too. I think canon lives on in the old issues. As long as they're in print and passed down to new readers, the canon will exist and, eventually, old will become new again.

I don't remember who made it, but I had the MEGO-style release of that Blue Superman I bought on clearance (I think at KayBee Toys). Despite being a horrid Marvel-ization of Superman from a design perspective, and the stories during that time being god awful, he was fun to pose.
KayBee Toys was a great place. Circus World. Didn't have Toys 'R Us, but I only bought my first living room set because the furniture store was located in the old Toy Chest building where I used to stand idle in the aisle gawking at all the GI Joe toys. My parents were extremely patient. |

My parents were extremely patient. Growing up in the Bay Area, California, I was lucky enough to have about 4 TRUs in a reasonable distance, a KayBee Toys and a Kiddie World. It's weird to think they're all gone now (I don't count the Macy's TRU section). Hopefully one day the big box toy stores make a comeback, so kids can know the experience of hitting one up and spending hours trying to figure out what to spend their allowance on. It's a lot healthier than staring at a screen making micropurchases.

Nah, I wasn't a fan so I wouldn't have paid full price for that one. If he'd hit clearance, I would've nabbed him to put next to my 12" Hasbro Batman Returns Batman. Now I have the Hot Toys Reeve Superman displayed next to the Hot Toys West Batman - how times have changed. It was this one and I think I paid something like $3 for him:

I can't believe only one Tanker remembered this.
Cobra really wasn't a thing at that point. It was just Snake Eyes and the future Cobra Commander rolling around America and taking down petty criminals until CC started getting bigger ambitions. I quite liked it, actually. Quote:
I think the worst take on Snake Eyes was in an Action Force audio story. How did they get around him being mute? Well they gave him a dubious accent not unlike Mickey Rooney's in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
https://youtu.be/tWkLSrHpXIc Snake Eyes's voice is at about 1 minute mark. It was definitely a different time. Quote:

That's pretty much the same argument I use for Batman every time he subdues Joker and doesn't kill him. All those subsequent deaths are on Batman's head... thousands of innocent people that have died at Joker's hands because Batman lacks the will to do what is right.

the electric suit superman was a kb thing, because he came in a line with martian manhunter, a red version of superman and something else. it was a bizarre 4 figure set. we had so many of them at the kb i worked at i was constantly shuffling them all over the store. one day i guess they were just pennied out while i was out because i dont remember ever selling a single one.
i sold a wwf inactionfigure classie freddie blassie we'd been kicking around the store forever before ever selling one of those not mego figures. hell, i never even saw one returned and whoever bought that classy freddie blassie is a real one for keeping it. that box was wrecked. i remembered snake eyes was a twin, but the thing about snake eyes is i just dont care and it's not worth it to me to bring it up. i dont know what this snake eyes and cc traveling the states like green lantern and green arrow fighting crime thing is about, but like everything else snake eyes - i just dont care. it'd been done better by other things before whoever thought to cram it onto the "snake eyes is the best at everything and everything is snake eyes and awesome" bullshit. |
