So I've been contmeplating this issue for years in silence. I think out of the two Joes, Roadblock is the biggest fictionous male in terms of height and girth so to speak. Gung-Ho is big, but I don't think he is AS big as RB...hence the name.
In terms of toys, yes I get it...RB was made the same scale continuously from the legs of the original o-ring ARAH launch. And also thus since, some of the other big characters are in pace of the same like Classified Bazooka, RB and Gung Ho. Now granted, GH is big, but I don't think he's as big as RB. Now Bazooka, I don't know. I mean he's been depicted as a big guy in in the earlier IDW and Devil's Due Comics but I saw him as being overweight, not "big." Certainly not taller than RB. In the Sunbow cartoon, I saw Bazooka as muscular, but not abnormally huge. I'm addressing this to be critical on a toy standpoint. I'm playing with my toys now and over analyzing. I get it that for cost issues, production can only do so much, but in my verse, RB is the Thing or Hulk of Joes. It would be super awesome if we or "I" lol got him in this way. |

Of the "established" Joes? Roadblock.
Big Lob might be taller than Roadblock, but thinner. However, going by filecard, Major Barrage is explicitly listed as 6'8" and 300 lbs. I don't think that any Joe is implied to be taller than 6 and a half feet. |

"The Fridge" was 335 lbs or so. Not as tall as Roadblock, but probably weighed more.

Ok granted height specs, I'll take Major B as a "big" dude...likened to to the Dutch character from Predator but Arnold isn't 6'8" I don't think. Now Big Lob, I never would expect. My only perspective of him is from the cartoon and he looked average size to me. But they gave the modern era figure limited articulation as if he is a "bigger" figure. IDK

This challenge got charged to start this thread when I was goofing around with Classified Gung Ho and Cobra Officer. First I started off with the Cobra Officer and enjoyed. Then I brought in GH. I was like cool figures, but realized the height difference and was like yeah GH is a big bad mofo. But is he is as "big" as RB? No! I don't think so! And started to fume about previous releases of these figures and scale. Bazooka? Why was he made big. Now ME Salvo and Leatherneck were just mistakes I think, but don't want to make any waves.
Just my thoughts. |

Since Classified is holding the torch now, I was thinking it would have been super awesome if we got a king-sized RB like how they do with like Marvel Legends. But it all depends on how one perceives the Joe line. If we are considering homage to the O-Ring line and have them the same scale, ok. Not to mention that both the 25th version and the Classified ofering are both great in aesthetics. But doing a "black" series line like Star Wars, I'd maybe want king sized RB...if he is the biggest Joe.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Major Barrage would be the biggest, but he's a little obscure.
Aside from Roadblock the only other contenders might be Sgt. Slaughter and maybe Red Dog (He's a Samoan pro footballer so...probably a big dude). Some Joes are depicted as extra-big in some incarnations (Heavy Duty, Rock n' Roll, Gung-Ho) but it's not really consistent enough to say for sure. |
