I realize this poll has been done before, but with IDW's marvel continuation finished, I think it is time to do one more poll. Which is better, IDW's marvel continuation or DDP's? Lets have it out once and for all!

I've been out of the game, I will need to read the IDW continuation and re-read the DDW stuff. I recall I enjoyed the art very much of the DD stuff, but I don't know how far it went on and where I was when I dropped out.

I liked the IDW one OK, but it definitely shows some of Hamas worst habits (Forgetting continuity, random stuff just sort of... happening, Plot/story points getting dropped, overreliance on The Brainwave Scanner etc). DDP i think was a fantastic continuation of the old ARAH book, and i have few complaints

I voted DDP before, but voted Hama this time. The DDP one didn't hold-up upon a re-read. Here are the results of the prior poll:

DDP. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, as I jumped off of Hama after Snake Hunt, but his stuff had been wearing thin with me for quite awhile by that point. Can't say the same of DDP. I didn't think every story was a "greatest Joe adventure ever!!" contender, but I had a lot of fun keeping up with the run and thought the art was really, really cool. The Serpentor arc and "CC working in the White House" reveal were awesome. DDP made the mythos feel like they were progressing instead of running in place, and I absolutely ate it up.
At the start, I was really enjoying Hama's run, but it seemed like he ran out of steam, and that lady kept hitting bad guys with a brick in her purse, and idk. I'll finish it up one of these days, but, based on what I've heard, I don't have huge expectations. Also worth mentioning that I thought DDP did a nice job of wrapping the saga up. ![]()

DDP introduced so many new characters - some still being used. It felt like a real continuation and many twists. WW3 could have been truly epic given more time. The Plague was a gift to Hasbro that they never really took advantage of - simple repaints of so many troops were a real challenge for the Joes.

DDP got off to a shaky start in terms of time line and next generation characters. I think it found its feet when Brandon Jerwa took over the writing. There was plenty of fan service for both comic and cartoon fans. The interaction on the DDP forum was also good back then, apart from the guy who kept complaining about Scarlett's characterisation. I enjoyed Master & Apprentice, the Coil/Serpentor stories, though the Red Shadow story was rushed for the America's Elite relaunch.
I've read bits of Hama's IDW run and it wasn't as much fun. The blue robot ninjas and brainwave scanner just got boring. |

I hated DDP. The art was horrific at the beginning and they took whole issues to tell a story that should have been told in a few pages. They had a good concept with the new recruits, but have up on it way too quick. The whole Red Shadows thing was awful too.
The IDW stuff was more like comfort food. It gave me what I wanted DDP to originally be. DDP did have a great forum at the time though, and we were able to talk to some of the writers and artists.

They take it too damn seriously. Read real books." https://joeguide.com/interviews/larryhama_ci.shtml |
