I remember getting my "reveals" by checking out the card backs, going to the stores, hearing about them from friends or the GI Joe catalogs that were included with vehicles. The DIC cartoon I suppose played a small role in making me aware of new figures as well since I watched it in real time. I also remember the live action GI Joe commercials from the early 90s.

I would know to look for a new wave when I saw new TV commercials for new stuff or new stuff or characters in the comic books.
Then I'd go to the store to look for it and see what was on the shelves. Then I'd get the complete lists from the backs of the figures and the in-vehicle catalog. I would often be disappointed by the characters I liked in the comics not showing up as figures.

I can only imagine your disappointment as a kid in not getting action figures of characters you came across when you read the comics. It's really a whole other side to GI Joe I never gave a chance too. Need to order some more volumes of the comic book - they are a nice escape. |

I still miss Toyfare. I used to have a ton of those issues, but regretfully sold them all in a bit lot a long time ago because they were taking up too much space in my apartment at the time.

Yeah, I miss going to the store and finding the new issue and getting excited about the new toys coming out the coming months.
