B.A.T.S. For me:
1. Black and Yellow were always (still are) my favorite colors so my 10 year-old self was sold at first sight. 2. The attachment gimmick was just too cool, and the backpack's ability to store the unused parts is probably the reason my 4 original B.A.T.S. from my childhood are still complete. 3. Lenticular chest-plate. I'm a sucker for that. Maybe the same reason I don't hate on Crystal Ball because I dig his accessory. I also wish they'd release a Retro Card Back Walmart Exclusive version, complete with lenticular chest and (slightly) larger head. I know it would never happen, but yeah... All that being said and it's still like trying to pick your favorite child. Beach Head and Low-Light are just so damn cool. I may be in the minority here, but I liked Beach Head on the toon. Yes he was kind of an ass, but I guess my 10 year old self thought he was cool. Probably wouldn't think so if I saw it today for the 1st time. |

It's Dial Tone. With that backpack and gun he looked amazing. The cartoon kind of ruined him by making him a whiny voiced loser, so I ended up calling my figure Breaker after that. But it's the best sculpt of these options for sure. Lowlight and Beachhead look like kids in Halloween costumes.

Definitely a cool-looking figure for a futuristic military unit. Sunbow's voice talents for this wave of Joes weren't the best. I can't remember Dial-Tone being prominent in the comics, either. |

Beach Head and Low-Light giving the B.A.T. a run for his money!

'86 was year of the B.A.T.
As much as v2 Hawk and Beachhead, maybe even Leatherneck and Low Light are honorable mentions, IMO, it's not even close. The B.A.T.s, with all their detachable playability, were IT!

I'm also biased because the B.A.T. was the very first '86 figure I got (got him as a 2nd grade graduation gift in early June '86), so he has a special place in my heart for that reason as well.

Dang this vote is as brutal as the 1985 vote. 85 and 86 were the best years of the line. Six of these names are in my favorites all time.
