Should the Flagg be raised or replaced/ rebuild ? Would be cool if Joes could engage a naval battle with Cobra? The Joes aircrafts and their carrier with Cobras.

It's not possible for several reasons, the majority because of the poor economy but:
-rumour in 2005 or so was that Hasbro was still in possession of the mold except for the flight deck -Hasbro pulled out of several of their Chinese factories in which some molds have said to be lost now -Hasbro's got new tech to scan old products to reproduce them even if the mold is gone (i.e. Star Wars Retro Collection) - kids don't play with toys like they used to, playsets haven't sold well since 2009 The 2011 carrier's the closet Hasbro has been to revisting it, your only option is to 3D print one entirely or buy one |

This might be a hot take but...The Flagg always seemed like a lame toy to me, even as a kid. It didn't seem to have a lot of nice play features and just generally looked cheap compared to other joe toys of the era...plus it's just a big plastic table.
Now...the Defiant shuttle complex...it may be fragile but dang, what a thing of beauty. It also captures that space-hopefulness of the 1980s. |

I think the only way playsets can be done with any amount of success is for them to be small and modular. I think Kenner had a good concept with its Star Wars playsets such as the Creature Cantina, Land of Jawas, Dagobah, Imperial Attack Base, etc. Hasbro did something similar with the Battle Stations & Battle Accessories. Not only is the price point cheaper, but display/storage is easier. Jason |

Instead of remaking the flag I think its way more feasible to make an Air traffic control tower with a roll out play mat runway and maybe a small hanger. You could even include the support vehicles from the flag.
You'd get a control tower playset like the flag had and since its not attached to a deck it would be way easier to play with. A runway for a Skystriker that can be rolled up when not in use (preferably out of that material they make the big MTG card mats out of). Have the small hanger be the type with the open frames on the sides and have them fold up so it stores easier. Add a missile battery, refuel and resupply vehicle and your good to go with way less of a permanent 7 foot footprint in a room. |

I was thinking that one way to make it viable would be to provide the complex pieces like the tower and other pieces, and you could provide a template where people could go out and get some hardboard (can be cut with a razorblade if people don't have the tools) or plywood and cut out the deck. Provide a vinyl wrap they can lay over the top and some banding for the edges so they don't have worry about painting. I get some people wouldn't want to have to assemble something, but I would imagine this would make cost and package size much more feasible. However, after seeing your idea that is probably an easier and less complex approach to provide a mat, but if you want the true aircraft carrier look I think the hardboard could be cool! Heck you could offer both options Last edited by AndJusticeForAll; 02-14-2023 at 12:46 PM.. |

Totally agree with an airfield playset! Simpler to do an awesome enough... lots of playability.
But re-making the Defiant with a more modern design or just plain re-copying the original toy would be amazing. The booster Defiant spaceship is one of my dream toys as an adult... |
