There's some good ones in '85, but I voted Frostbite. Great sculpt (dig that winning smile!) and an awesome weapon...as a kid I wanted like ten of those rifles. I use to use it with Gung Ho a lot, he looked great with it. Also, mine stayed miraculously white and clean through the years, never yellowed...maybe they used some better quality white plastic on him, I dunno.

Darn, I didn't see this thread until it was closed. I'd have picked Frostbite (of course).

Sorry to resurrect this thread (figured it was the best place to talk about a specific figure and gives us a place to talk about the specific figures). Anyways, I noticed in the Creating Joe books two very interesting things related to 1985.
- Even though Shipwreck was released in 1985, he was originally intended for 1984 and was originally sculpted as shirtless before they revised him before production. - The Terror-Drome with A.V.A.C. was originally supposed to be released in 1985. No reason is given why it was delayed to 1986 in the book, though my personal and possible theories could be that maybe Hasbro thought it was too much (money for them or consumers) to have the Flagg and Terror-Drome at the same exact time? or maybe both made 1985 go over budget so only one could be '85? Or maybe retailers pushed back and thought it was too much real estate to have both on shelves? Who knows, but found that kind of interesting. Also makes sense as to why 1985's Cobra vehicle driver lineup always seemed light. Adding AVAC to that lineup would have made more sense in terms of Joe-to-Cobra ratios every year. The books don't mention it anywhere (I think YoJoe does though), but all 3 Dreadnoks and the Bridge-Layer w/Tollbooth were originally intended to be late-1984 toys as well. This is made evident by the fact they still have the older pre-'85 side-to-side only neck joints instead of the swivel ball neck style from 1985.

I thought the Dreadnoks were as well, but not sure there's evidence of that. The Fridge was also swivel neck only, because he was originally designed for 1984, they indented to rebrand the line as Fridge Force with William Perry as the star and I'm making this up... |

Torch only has a swivel head, not a ball one, I remember reading that on Yo Joe. Pretty sure Ripper and Buzzer have ball heads.

You had me second-guessing myself, but I just checked and all three have the swivel necks.

No but if I remember right, starting with 1986 or 1987, DarkLordMordred started doing them in the vintage section instead.
