Not all in that scale, but the MOTU female figures were fine, Super Powers Wonder Woman looked great, the Kenner Leia figures were hit-or-miss, but the first one was very decent and that was from the '70s. So, I'm not sure why the Joes suffered in ways that other lines didn't, but maybe they just knew the audience were boys who wouldn't care all that much.

This was a hard one, but I went with Snake Eyes v2.
New outfit, the visor, the sword and a pet Wolf. I mean, come on a Wolf as his sidekick.

Snow Serpents was one of the best figures ever and with so much gear, and Tomax and Xamot were an awesome sight. But Snake-Eyes V2 is like the holy grail figure. One of the best toys ever made.

I voted Snake Eyes, of course.
But....I don't LOVE the figure. I didn't actually get my hands on one until around the year 2000. By that time it had been built up so much with all the years of comics and cartoons and merch, that when I actually held the real figure, it was a bit of a let down. His head is big, he doesn't have a lot of sculpted detail. It's still an all-time classic, but I was surprised that it didn't look exactly like Mike Zeck's art in figure form. Anyway, it's all moot...1985 is the year of the Crimson Guard for me. |

Toss up with SE and snow serpent and I went with the under dog. The snow serpent figure was also one of the best on the line.

Snow Serpents...for the same reason I voted for EELs. I loved all that combat gear.

Another very difficult year to choose just one... but in the end I went with Snake Eyes. When he originally came out in 1985, this was before the Snake Eyes fatigue set in with 50 different versions of him. Back then, he was just totally awesome, it was a novelty to get a new version of a figure, I think only hooded CC came before him (I'm not counting repaints).
This figure is iconic and still influential near 40 years on. The design is visionary... the visor, the wicked cool blade, the wrist arrow, Timber, the slight pot belly that made him look more human than superhero. It also confirmed what my friends and I suspected all along, Snake Eyes was a ninja!! How cool is that! (We weren't following the comics yet) |
