I am gonna go with Flint, as my final answer.
I loved his intro in Marvels issue #37.

Doh! I was going to pick Crimson Guard, but Flint is so Iconic, and Eels were such a cool figure, but to me Footloose was the best constructed figure. Removable helmet, Straps to hold two different weapons! M16 that he could hold and pose perfectly, and camo so close to Flint, he made Flint look cooler than he was. Ad Flint is awesome

Good grief this was a tough pick. This is like a list of my favorite figures. I went with Eel because of all the gear and the build but could have picked 6 of these names.

EELs...Cobra's answer to Navy SEALs. Hard to beat that. Hoses, fins, propulsion pack, harpoon gun. I love those guys.

Another poll where I could easily choose half of them for the number 1 spot. I loved Footloose, good basic, realistic design in a year when designs were becoming more flamboyant.
But in the end I voted Eel. He and Snow Serpent were the pinnacle of Cobra trooper designs for me. Just the right blend of practical realism with a slight Cobra edge. I REALLY wish they would have stuck with this design motif for Cobra. Later troopers were just too far out to look military, such as Toxo or HEAT Vipers. They just looked silly and out of place on the battlefield. We wouldn't see this level of greatness again until Night-Viper came along years later... |

Crimson Guard cool looking, bad toy...because that silver paint just falls off.
I'm going with EEL, solid design, distinct from a plain old frogman but not silly/far out. |
