Hammehead box art was hilarious even as a kid because I went "How is the SAW Viper and Rock Viper not going to die underwater? And if his armor is waterproof, why do they need Eels?"

Also felt like Decimator was a one off dude and they call him The Decimator because he's cool like that - he get a THE in front of his code name like The Jackel.

That's okay, and I'm glad you mentioned the Cobra Hammerhead box art again, because it fits well with what we were discussing today.

Difficult to say, but collectors will have to inspect the paint apps on their action figures to determine if the factory paint job is incomplete or missing any facial hair details.

The original single carded Rock-Viper not only had a mustache illustrated on his card art, but also a soul patch (that tuft of hair that grows under his bottom lip).



Edit: This is where it gets more interesting. When the Hasbro R&D department would send designs to Dave Dorman to paint presentation art for in house use, the Rock-Viper concept did not include any facial hair, so that was added after the toy was already approved for production. This makes me even more curious about the story behind that extra added detail.

No, that's not what I originally wanted to say, THEDARKONE508, but reluctantly I admit that he just might actually be unique among all Rock-Vipers if he is the only Rock-Viper ever to have received a no-shave chit, exempting him from the Cobra grooming standards. Well, him and his cousin (part of the 2003 six figure Toys R Us exclusive Python Patrol set).

All of the Rock-Vipers in the DIC animated series (appearing in only three episodes and both of the season opening sequences) were always clean-shaven.
