I feel I have to respond to this As an actual texan, I can say that most so called "Texans" in tv and movies are truly awful. My biggest complaint is the accent. Texans do NOT have a Georgian accent (yes there is a difference). Yes sunbow wild bill was very poorly done. However, Comic wild bill is one of the most accurate texan in any media I have seen. If he did not call people "partner" then he would be perfect.

The Sunbow version of Lifeline is very punchable. The Marvel Special Missions version was much better showing of his Aikido martial arts against Horrorshow and carrying Wild Bill into a running gun battle so Wild Bill could do the shooting.

I dunno, he wasn't figuring out a way to pay college football recruits tens of thousands a year, which means he's very unusual for a 1980s Texan.

(Pony Excess is the best 30 for 30 ever made, and I will fight anyone who disagrees.)

When I was just out of high school and sowing my angry oats by traveling all over this fucked up land o' plenty, I got to know a group of Texans in Chaco Canyon, NM. We were campsite neighbors and spent a few evenings chatting, carousing and etc. Anyway, one guy was a lot like cartoon Wild Bill. I can't remember if he said "pardner", but I wouldn't doubt it. Dude was a loudmouth asshole, but fun to get drunk with. And the camp hosts were a couple from different places, but the husband was a black guy from the Deep South--Alabama or Mississippi or Louisiana--and he was the epitome of that chill and "I ain't in no hurry" stereotype. He was cool AF, but you couldn't count on him doing anything in a timely manner.

That "timely manner" thing, sounds like me. I was born slightly premature and that is the only time I have been early to anything.

Nobody in the poll, but Buzzer in the comics was an obnoxious, detestable little piece of flotsam. He did everything from kidnap Candy to injure Junkyard and would blame everyone from his parents to society when caught. At least there was some semblance of satisfaction watching Ripcord beat him over the head with a bedpan.
